Former Ohio State tailback Maurice Clarett is wanted on two counts of aggravated robbery following an incident that took place early Sunday, police said.

According to a report issued by the Columbus Division of Police, Maurice E. Clarett approached two people who were standing in an alley at the rear of the Opium Lounge, located at 346 South High St.

Police allege that Clarett, 22, demanded property from a 28-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman "with a handgun in his presence then got into a white SUV with two other unknown suspects and sped away."

Neither victim was hurt, police said.

...a few of them end up in trouble and they are usually black, then all of the blacks that make up college athletics must be dregs...

It's very interesting, Smitty, that you should glean that bit out of what I posted.

Words went into my mouth, so I insinuated words to yours.

He does not have basic life skills of personal responsibility and a modest work ethic.

Suprisingly, he did have work ethic. He graduated early out of high school and enrolled early to OSU, became an instand vocal leader during the 02 season and was immediately an impact player. I believe he didnt take Tressel's guidance and played with his forgiving personality. It wasnt the first time Tressel got taken advantage of by a player and wont be the last. You cant mold them all into fine young men.

Actually according to the latest information on graduation rates, student athletes graduate at a higher rate than the average student body. The graduation rate of football players in particular is almost even with that of the student body. Whats more, black football players graduate at a much higher rate than the average black student body.

For the most part they are not real students, just semi-pros puting in their time in what has become a minor league for the NFL.

As long as they don't play for a team with an Indian name, the NCAA is just fine with that. Follow the money.

That doesn't square with what I read about a month ago. In that study Notre Dame and I think Northwestern had relatively high rates of graduation but many, many schools (Most of the big time names) had rates that hovered around 50% or less, I'll try later to get the article and post the reference.

Here is one reference source but it is not the article I mentioned. In that article the point was made that, in general, graduation rates for student athletes were significantly below the school averages for all students.

"He had the skills to make mills. Now he's been charged and that will bring nills."

Good!

Too many good-for-nothing numbskulls nowadays making too much dough. And the people are the dummy ones who make these mutants rich.

We have met the enemy...and he's us.
