Mich. Man Bowls 3rd 300th Game, Then Dies
56 minutes ago
PORTAGE, Mich. - A bowler collapsed and died at a bowling alley shortly after rolling the third perfect game of his life. Ed Lorenz, 69, bowled a 300 Wednesday in his first league game of the night at Airway Lanes.
When the retiree got up to bowl in the fifth frame of his second game, he clutched his chest and fell over, and efforts to revive him failed.
"If he could have written a way to go out, this would be it," said Johnny D Masters, who was bowling with Lorenz.
Friends said Lorenz started bowling in 1957 and ended last season with a 223 average. He rolled his first two 300 games over a one-week period in 2004.
In May, Lorenz was inducted into the Kalamazoo Metro Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
He died in the gutter.
Ed Lorenz: "I'm Ed Lorenz reporting to Heaven"
Saint Peter: "Hey, are you the guy with three, 300 games? Hey everyone here's that three, 300 game guy!!"
Ed: "What about my catalog of sins?"
Peter: "Sin, Schmin...three 300 games, man you're in!"
With a 223 average he should have tried going pro.
House bowler it sounds like.
Good none the less, but lots of guys
have 220 + averages.
Earl Anthony could bowl 300 games in his sleep.
Not that he would have the 220+ average on the tour but 218 seems to be the norm in the pros.

even higher in the senior tour

I used to follow pro bowling when I was in junior leagues and military leagues but for some reason it lost it's appeal to me when ABC dropped it.
Like I said, he could have tried out. Guess it's moot, now. RIP Mr. Lorenz
I wonder if God took him up on his offer that he'd give anything to score that perfect "300'r"
Whaaat?!? Being inducted into the Kalamazoo Metro Bowling Association Hall of Fame wasn't enough excitement to stop his heart?!?
Then this guy in the article could have tried again a little later.
bad way yo go ........ wearing those tacky bowling shoes.
