Please report the happenings of the day. Links are gratefully appreciated. All who contribute to the cause are welcome.
Those young ladies are going to catch a death of cold if they aren't careful.
Not a chance! ;)
Do you know what motor is in that '60 Torino?
Not '60 but '69 Torinos. 428CJ 4V carbs, 4-speed toploader transmissions. Actually owned a pair of identical vehicles back in the late '70's, at the same time. Sigh...
I knew it was a '69, I hit the wrong key and I didn't proof read.
I sort of lost track of cars about 1967. But I knew that engine. Was the first year of the 427 cu in. 1962?
I remember watching a '62 409 Impala with 4 4's, low speed rear end and a Hurst Conversion kit take on a Ford with a 'big engine' at a drag strip in Kahoka MO in the summer of '63. The Ford (not a Fairlane, but the next series up) womped him. "He" was devistated.
You learn a lot of things when you date a "Wrencher". I learned to drive a stick sift on that 409.
stick shift, not sift.
I believe you are correct. The 2nd Generation FE Y-blocks were made from '62 to '73, but the 427 was cut long before that. I have a FoMoCo catalog from the late '60's that you could order a NASCAR 'Shotgun' 427 engine from at a tidy sum of $2500! Oh, for the day--or a time machine...
Oh God, I learned to drive stick in a VW Beetle. But I made up for it! [TG!] ;)
I came home early today and did my best to "batten down the hatches" because we have a potent storm approaching us. Our local weather says 70 mph winds along the coast, but the Weather Channel says up to 100 mph gusts are possible.
So....I am turning off the computer as soon as the first gusts arrive. I have the power sources charged, my OTT light ready, lots of candles to light, the tea kettle is heating on the wood stove, dinner is almost ready. The critters and I will be fine. The river is very high and if the rains are as heavy as they have predicted, I suspect there will be some flooding.
Miss Lily is doing OK - she was in very high spirits yesterday and ate most of her lunch. Today, she just picked at it BUT, she drank her egg nog and at her ice cream. Hope all is well in your world....Love and hugs, Bev
Take care, Bev, and let us hear from you as soon as you can after the storm is over. (((((Bev)))))
ROFL! If I could only remember all that to tell at a party!
When people honked at my husband's aunt because she didn't move forward quickly enough when the light turned green used to get out of her car, approach the car behind her that honked and asked them "Do you need something, dear?" She's a sketch.
We just finished watching the movie "Must Love Dogs" and even Mr. P thought it was adorable.
The 51% of democrats who agree that NSA should survey these calls will not only sour the democrat leadership's milk, but will turn into cottage cheese. YIPPEE!
wow that is some storm! Hang tight sweet lady! enjoyed your note/update.
Take care, bev, and check in when you can with an AAR. BIG wind sux... [so to speak!]
I had an old MG, I had to double shift to shift. For about 2 days it was awful. I graduated up to a '59 Beetle,
bev, take care. i remember those rain and wind storms from SE Alaska and Seattle. They can cause problems, so stay safe and WARM. (((HUGS))) to Miss Lilly.
My sister and I co-owned an old maroon cadallic. Honestly, everytime we were downtown, Seattle, the thing would quit. One time the car quit at a stop light on 4th Ave & Pike. We sat through the red light, through the green light, and the car behind began honking. One big blast after another. My sister is 5'10" tall and willowy. She folded out of the car and strolled back to the honker and said "Sir, if you'll help me start my car, I'll stay back here and honk your horn". The policeman on the corner cracked up. Yes, Pappa made us give the car up.
Well I see I haven't been proofing my posts. "I had to double shift to shift" - I had to double clutch to shift. It was a fun car and sold it for more than I bought it for.
Do you mean Double Clutch? I never did get the hang of that very well. And it was really necessary before the days of fully secronized (sp?) gears. I always found it easier to sort of lug along in second, rather than have to try to double clutch into 1st.
Argh, let's graduate to something with some horsepower, like a Shelby Cobra or a Ford GT! Even a '70 Ford LTD station wagon with a 429 4v carb? It would spin both rear tires at will... On dry pavement! Hee, hee, hee... [Camaro predator]
