I believe the Chairman is due back today. Thanks to all of you for participating and helping me this week. It takes me back to old times, quite a few years ago now, when I posted the UvsC thread. It is hard work to post a daily thread, and I am grateful the Chairman does it so well.

Good morning. As you can see, I am in an interrupted sleep pattern. Grrr.

I didn't get a chance to reply to your thoughts yesterday, but I quite agree.

By the way, I just saw a thread that says that Al Gore has bought a high-priced condo in San Francisco. I bet he is going to run against Arnold.

I am astounded to know there is someone with a name similar to Tator's. It must be Joe Biden.

I am going to try for more sleep. The grandkids are spending the night tonight, and Mr. Marple will konk out early. Someone is going to have to stay up with them. LOL!

Back later.

Yes! I, too, was astounded! I didn't realize that I hadn't hit the caps until after I had posted. Very interesting. Tator, you might want to find out who your namesake is....

good morning ATRW.

Happy Birthday 2/3 -- hope it is a good day & outstanding year ahead for you.

Miss Marple.. these early morning "insomnia episodes" are terrible. Hope you can return to a good sleep pattern when you don't have this daily posting hanging over you.

Need to work on a thread.. have a good day all!

Thank you very much, Peachie!

Did you get your toolbar fixed?

Not fixed yet and cumbersome to use, but I've got computer help coming on Saturday. Do you have any special plans for today? What's your favorite kind of cake?

Thank you, DC! I'm wanting to buy a brand new Specailized Allez Sport road bike for my BD, but my bike shop hasn't assembled it yet. I already have one exactly like it, but I want a 62 cm, and mine is a 58 cm and it always has felt too small. I will have 4 road bikes and (still) zero mountain bikes if I wind up buying this one. Look out if I try to ride all of them at once!

Just going down this evening to my hang out right here in my neighborhood. It's a "Cheers" type restaurant and bar. Tonight is a live jazz band. They have something called the Mug Club, where the people that frequent have their mugs with their nicknames in them. Mine is "Rocket Man".

My favorite cake is white cake with white frosting, but, as much as I want one, I'm not getting one of those, because I'm trying to watch what I eat. I'm getting ready to bake a (boxed) angelfood cake with CONFETTI ----- EXTREMELY hard to find. No frosting.

My Mom made me a red velvet cake when I was at Kansas for Thanksgiving, and I have one piece of it left in the freezer.

Wish I was there. I'm sure I could fix your toolbar for you, but I would have to be able to work on it directly. Fixing it should be 'cake' for any geek.

White cake with confetti? Hmmm. Never heard of that and will have to look around to see what it's like. And if you were here, I'd work it out and make you one.

I just got the toolbar back in working order which is a major accomplishment for a computer illiterate like me. But I'm still letting the Geek Squad come fix some things that aren't working properly on this computer; a nasty virus snuck in probably.

It sounds like you'll have fun today, Rocket Man. That club sounds like the best kind of club, imo.

bbl - time for a walk.

Here's a handy web site.....it's how to bypass menus and get a human on 800 numbers.
----------------------------
The Problem: You can't reach a human being when you call customer-service hotlines.

• The Fix: Little-known codes let you bypass automated phone systems and go straight to a live operator.

Blogger Paul English has posted a customer service "cheat sheet" at www.paulenglish.com/ivr that offers tricks for finding a live operator at dozens of frequently called companies, from American Express to Verizon Wireless.

The site lists codes that you can punch in as soon as the automated system picks up to have your call routed directly to a human. It also helps you foil the newer breed of customer-service hotlines -- those voice-recognition systems that ask you to speak aloud your requests. Saying "agent" or "operator" will usually redirect you to a human at many companies, but you might have to be persistent.

Mr. English is constantly adding new companies to the site, but he also takes requests. If there's a company you need help contacting, click the "update" link at the top of the page and type in the name.
