Only time I ever returned something was a shirt that my sister bought me that was the wrong color. I exchanged it for the same shirt, albeit in blue rather than neon.

One of the few times I ever returned a gift is when a co-worker, for my birthday, gave me the EXACT SAME blouse I happened to be wearing the day she brought in my present--same color, style, everything. It was pretty hilarious. With Christmas gifts, even if I don't particularly like something I typically just donate it to Goodwill after a while rather than return it to the store.

My first Ex made me return a lamp TO my Grandmother. That didn't go over very well.

decent class of friends. or you are a very generous-minded receiver. I love my brother and my mother but when I see the tchotchkes they give me, my mind boggles - how did they decide my preferred decor includes "funky"?

I've learned my mother-in-law doesn't care for anything she hasn't chosen herself - so she sends money and I send food. A happy accomodation.
