Mariah Carey's "Don't Forget About Us" rose to the top of Billboard's Hot 100 chart, putting her in a tie with Elvis Presley for second place among artists with the most No. 1 singles in the rock era.
Carey and Presley have 17 No. 1 hits, second only to the Beatles, who had 20.

I never much cared for Elvis [a Buddy Holly fan], but to compare a woman whose claim to fame is a voice that can shatter styrofoam cups to Presley is: [a] a bad joke and [b] Empirical proof that Rock n' Roll has gone all to hell, along with its audience.
I agree. liked Mariah's old stuff.
She couldn't carry the King's meatloaf.
even if she is somewhat cute
She's cute from the neck down.
Very cute from the neck down. :o)
I think her body is out of proprotion. And wonder why the hell I care. I can't stand her voice so her beating out Elvis tells me the music world is in a sad state of affairs. I swear when she hits those horrid high notes? She is simply whistling. Listen to it. It sounds like screeching to me. But it could be whistling (o:
Anyway as I see it, she ruined music for the past 12 years or so. So many Mariah wanna-be's. And she sucks. And so many sing like her now! Plus!....she is very unattractive. Ok I am harsh I know. But I truly I can't stand her.
Just my opinion, and to me, I am not wrong. So there.
As an aside, Merry Christman all. I wish you good music this season!
Sometimes her screeching was unpleasant, but to put her down is to risk sounding like the "Comic Book Guy" on the Simpsons. Wishing her well in spite of everything.
Merry Christmas! :)
I'm with you. I remember something about a nervous breakdown, a horrible movie, and she sings "too many notes."
Other than that, I have no idea.
Yep, all the great ones: Beatles, Elvis...............Mariah Carey.
LOL, that's it exactly, and it seems to be a common ailment among today's female pop singers. It sounds like their voices are sliding on ice.
One rock critic (Comic Book Guy) with a funny British name blames it all on Mariah and her "Vision of Love."
As for the shrieking she has a five octave range and that's the upper or whistle register.
I'm not so crazy about her music or her acting, but the Wikipedia article about her is a good read. She's been through a lot, and if she keeps at it long enough, who knows?
SHE'S REALLY NOT A NUTCASE. SHE'S HAD HARD TIMES LIKE ANY! ELSE IN THIS WORLD. YEAH SHE HAD A BREAK DOWN. THE MUSIC INDUSTRY WILL TRY & KILL U JUST TO MAKE THEIR MONEY, WHICH REALLY IS'NT RIGHT. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR ARTISTS (MOST OF THE LABELS). THE INDUSTRY IS HARD AS HELL & I DO KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. ALL THEY WANT ARTISTS TO DO IS KEEP PUTTING OUT ALBUMS & GO ON TOURS NO MATTER WHAT IS GOING ON WITH U HEALTH WISE. IT'S RIDICULOUS HOW THEY R! I JUST THANK GOD SHE IS DOING MUCH MUCH BETTER. ANY WOMAN THAT WRITES & PRODUCES THEIR OWN MATERIAL LIKE SHE DOES TRULY DON'T GET THE RESPECT THEY DESERVE IN THIS INDUSTRY.
2~AS FOR HER WEIGHT, SHE HAS ALWAYS BEEN VOLUPTUOUS & THICK. WHEN SHE STARTED OUT HER BODY WAS STILL DEVELOPING & SHE WAS ONLY 19. I THANK GOD SHE IS'NT TOO SKINNY. SHE WAS THIN ENOUGH WHEN SHE STARTED. THANK GOD SHE'S THE WAY SHE IS NOW. ^~^.
STAY BLESSED,
~E
SHE'S A WOMAN DOIN' HER THANG WHO'S ABOUT HER BUSINESS & SUCCESS COMES ALONG WITH THAT.

I acknowledged her voice and that will keep her numbers high the rest of her life. And more power to her. I don't date women who wear the same sizes I do. Beyonce is about as large a boote' as I will go. And that's lookin fine to me. I think Maria could drop 20 or so and still have enough meat on the bone for you.
But after seeing her on New Years Eve, she sure never has to worry about sinking with those flotation devices of hers.
And she appears in videos with gangsta types that she would never be caught dead with in real life, just like Madonna.
LOL, A SINGLE IS ANY SONG THAT COMES OUT, SO YES SINGLES R STILL OUT, LOL.
~E
I LOVE THEM BOTH, LOL! A LOT OF PPL HATE ON MARIAH B/C THEY DON'T HAVE HER VOICE.
