With Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men."

Merry Christmas to you and yours, especially your son who is representing us all.
I assembled Jack's main gift, a moveable basketball backboard and net this afternoon in the next-door neighbor's garage and after we got home from church, the Duchess got him to show her his new X-Box in the basement while I moved it into position and filled the base with anti-freeze and water. The challenge was finding a hose that wasn't plugged with ice. It is sitting out on the driveway with a big red ribbon on it. The ball and pump are in separate packages under the tree...we will play "Connect-the-dots" tomorrow morning.
Our prayers are with your son and his fellow "Les Terribles" this evening, so far from home.

I would love it. I just hate having to brief DVs when they DO feed the troops.
My spiel generally begins with: "With all due respect to your rank and position, it is my job to keep the airmen we feed safe from food borne illness...." and then on with the details.
At least SecDEF is wearing a cover. ;>)

Trill got new puppies. Chihuahua mixes. I'll get to see them when I visit over New Year's. For those that are keeping count, the dog population is now 6, and the cat population is now 5. Don't forget the hermit crabs and fish. LOL!
She's got the room, $$s, and love for doing these rescues. More power to her.

The only thing I could give them is a home. SIL and daughter are getting toys for them. And getting a vet trip for Spooky.
It's been an interesting year. I made many new friends, lived through some tough times, and put up with too much burro-ocracy.
My pay for the Alaska trip still isn't right. Several Kilobucks worth. I was broke last week, and my unit took care of me. Someone slipped a $20 into my wallet (gas money! yeah!). And yesterday, a partial payment hit my account, so I've got a little walking around money for the holidays.
God has taught me to receive as well as to give. To be grateful for the things I have. To love my friends. To tell my sister tonight that: "We're cooking. We're late. What are they going to do? Fire us? Merry Christmas!" We both laughed.
God has given me an eternal perspective about peace. I will not worry. There is no need. He provides.
All I have to do is show up and do my part.
Good music, good friends, good food. What more does one man need?

You're an inspiration to all of us. Wherever you are, you're a contented man. (Now, if only the govt. would get you your pay, I would be contented too!)

I love the firemen in my town...they were there for me the night the vein broke in my leg....but tonight they are scaring me....they are riding SANTA around town with the siren going.....it is a tad un-nerving.

Next thing you know, the catz will make sure you pay attention to them, while you're computing.
Naw, the AF doesn't always have it easy, AF are technicians.
Merry Christmas johnny, and Merry Christmas to your family.
I've done the pies and cake. Thank goodness. Early tomorrow I'll do the turkey, put it in the fridge until 1000 then pop it in the oven. I do my turkey in my cookie pan set up on celery and carrots and parsnips, if I can get some. The combination makes a terrific gravy.

I'm watching the Morman Tabernacle choir on PBS, and it's quite magnificent.

We closed at 6pm.....it was known so it came as no surprise....so tonight at 530 half the town descends on my little store(to get their Christmas meal) it was like herding cats out at 6pm. As we were herding the people out the door....the local Wal Mart closed....and that crowd made a mad dash for US. Me and the asst. store manager had to stand guard at the door to keep people OUT...one gentleman dove inside the door and had to be told rather loudly to get out.(I enjoyed that part...sort of like flaming a troll...).

Dolly, that is such a neat message. Thank you. Do you know this is the first year I HAVE NOT received a Christmas card from our President. My nose is bent slightly to the right, at this moment.

Just, finally, was able to get on line and try to catch up with everyones day.
Cooked all morning, ate all afternoon and then made it to early Mass. It's been raining all day and I decided that early was better than Midnight!
I want to wish all of the ATRWers the most Blessed of all Christmases. You are all an integral part of my life and when I'm not able to lurk, I miss each and everyone of you. I consider you all my "extended family".
God Bless and keep you, each and everyone.

Why people wait until the very last minute like that is unknown. It can't be that they are that busy, it's that want to inconvience others, I've decided. I decided that when this morning, I saw Juliet Huddy say that she hadn't done one bit of Christmas shopping yet. She was going to do it ALL today. PLEASE.
