Made with canned vegetables, its awful. Green bean dishes made with fresh produce are wonderful.

Green beans in particular take on a canned taste.

What it's supposed to look like:

New Green Bean recipe:
Creamy Swiss Green Beans
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup milk
2 cans 16 oz. cut green beans or french cut green beans
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup shredded swiss cheese
1 cup bread crumbs
Cook onion in 2 tablespoons butter until tender, Stir in flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, add milk. Cook and stir until mixture thickens. Drain beans and stir into sauce, add sour cream and cheese. Put in a 10x6x2 baking dish, melt remaining butter mix with crumbs. Sprinkle over beans, bake uncovered at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Very good! Nice change from old green bean casserole.

2 cans 16 oz. cut green beans or french cut green beans

You can use fresh or frozen(thawed), it tastes better.

Has any legally licensed food Chemist ever determined exactly what is in a can of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup?

I can't be sure of anything except the carpenter's glue. After that, it could be anything.

The very thought of the stuff makes my choke reflex start up.

I suspect the chemical compounds involved are almost as vile as those used to make "Barbecue" (sic) potato chips.

I'll grow okra but I refuse to eat it.

That's fine. More for me.

Casseroles are proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. Especially, green bean casserole.

Never was a more wretched dish conceived and proffered under the guise of a holiday speciality.

Have to disagree. My aunt made a lime jello mold containing miniature marshmellows and shredded cabbage that was loathsome.
