They are all trying to be the Alpha cat! I don't know how you deal with that.

The kittens we found in the compost bin alternately fight and play together. They have all been together since birth and have to share space with the alpha adult female who gives big swats. We have two more adult once stray cats. The youngest, a once wormridden, injured and starving stray was motherly to the kittens when they were younger. It was ao sweet to watch.
All of our cats love to be petted bur some more than others, some sleep on my daughters bed. ..some are very loving and some are rather aloof.
My cat I lost to cancer had been"my" cat..bonded with me and stayed by me when I was on the computer. She was another 'wild cat' that had shown up.
We lost 2 cats several years ago..They just disappeared and no one answered our notices. We now have housecats only.

I am late for the kitty thread but want to express my prayers and best wishes for Sam. My cat is named Sam too, so have special thoughts for your Sam.

Thanks MEG33 for your reply. I know, if I had gotten my cats from birth they would probably be indoor also, but these just showed up and had obviously been feral. I have a 3rd cat that believe it or not a neighbor who moved away just left and of course there was no way I could just leave him....sooooooo now I have 3 cats that hate each other.....lucky, lucky me :-)

The starving stray acted like she was wild.It took weeks of feeding her outdoors to get her in a cage so we could get her to the vet and get her mites and worms treated, shots so we could bring her in the house.

She spent her first week in the house under a table skirt in the living room. She ventured out a bit at a time. We finally realized she loved to play (once her starvation was eased)and we brought her out by playing with her..She does not like to be held but loves to be groomed and petted. She has a damaged larynx and purrs extra loud. She is beautiful now..despite missing part of an ear.

She hangs out with the kittens more than the adults at times because our older female cat swats hard. They do better than they used to.

The most timid cat had a deep cut that crippled her when she was found in a parking lot under the car.It looked like someone had actually cut her.
The vets love us. They hold our life savings in their coffers.
We had 3 females and 2 male kittens to neuter lately.
We didn't plan all this..These cats all just happened along!
Enjoy the cats when they aren't at each others throats..one at a time!

SHe is doing fine and playing in the CHristmas sacks right now.
