"It's been two and a-half years now. The vow is over, but I wanted to keep cruising."
Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has vowed to remain celibate, even though he has beaten his original goal to not have sex for two years.
The rocker, 35, found celibacy helped his songwriting skills and vowed to give up sex as he wrote Weezer's current album 'Make Believe.'
The singer has now spent 30 months without intimacy, and insists it's becoming easier to resist temptation.
He tells Blender magazine, "It's been two and a-half years now. The vow is over, but I wanted to keep cruising.
"Abstinence doesn't require as much self-discipline anymore. We never had any serious groupies, anyway. Our generation got screwed."

Rivers is my now deceased grandfathers nephew, His Grandfather was a dear great Uncle and the most gentle man there was. His wife is still alive and in town, we see her on occasion.
his brother Leaves, corresponds with my mother on occasion
persona and real life are two different things my friends

"Celibate" means he refuses to marry. The word he wants is "chaste".

Just curious, where are the Weezer guys from? For some reason I want to think they are from somewhere rural.

So, can we expect him to either announce his salvation or his gayness soon? I hope it's the former!

Im hoping for salvation as well - Im really intrigued by the comments this am - conservatives as a whole seem to promote abstinence, yet a number here openly mock the path he's chosen
Incidentally, Im told his father is now in ministry overseas - so heres praying that he is an influence Rivers will respond to

Not to be forgotten is the old gambit from my college days when a male virgin on theological grounds was well chased by "ladies" bent on showing they were too much to resist.
Me thinks he has a good way to avoid the lamentable fate of what this chap calls "our generation".
As one who prefers classical music, I am in no position to determine if his "sacrifice" has improved his music or not.

Rivers is my now deceased grandfathers nephew, His Grandfather was a dear great Uncle and the most gentle man there was. His wife is still alive and in town, we see her on occasion. If that's true, then he is your father's (or mother's) first cousin and your second cousin.
