CFN Expert Picks 2005-2006 Bowls
College Football News.com ^ | 16 November 2005 | CFN

Here are the picks from several college football dignitaries along with Clucko the Chicken. Put down two feed dishes, one representing one team and one representing another and whichever dish the chicken goes to first is the team that's going to win. You'll do just as well. (Really, the pick is a coin flip. Don't laugh; Clucko won the 2000 Bowl Pool among 24 entrants.) You can get to the Expert Picks in the above dropdown under Predictions.

For the Bowls, each "expert" not only gives his pick, but also his confidence in his pick ranking the bowl picks against the spread. The pick he is the MOST confident in gets a 28, LEAST confident gets a 1. Be sure to scroll down all the way for all the picks.

The pickers: Pete Fiutak - CFN, Rich Cirminiello - CFN, Matthew Zemek - CFN, Mark Risley - CFN, John Harris - CFN, Trey Luerssen - Foxsports.com, Eric Edholm - Pro Football Weekly, Steve Greenberg - The Sporting News, Tom Dienhart - The Sporting News, Matt Hayes - The Sporting News, Todd Wright - ESPN Radio, Clucko the Chicken - KFC ...

The two players have just been cleared of the charges against them I heard. No word on why the accusations were made.

Investigation is still open. A key witness has yet to be interviewed, so the police are still looking into it. The players' attorney has stated that he thinks no charges will be filed, but they all say that. I think one of the guys transferring was involved in the September 4 situation, where a gun was involved. It sounds like a few of the players were just behaving like thugs over a stretch, and some people finally got pissed off and called the police, probably after they 'shook down' the kid for his money the other night, December 4, I believe.

Vince needs to get over it or he's going to throw 3 interceptions in the Rose Bowl. USC is +20 in turnover margin for the year. Vince needs to play calm and focused to have a chance IMO.

How do you like me now?

Yeah... and last year Jason White and Adrian Peterson weren't happy that Leinart had their trophy... and we all know where that got them.

How do you like me now?

Look for 350 passing and 100 rushing on 5 tds to prove his point to the Heisman voters.

My bad...I meant over 500 yards total.

Congratulations to the Longhorns. Vince played is heart out. game of his life, no doubt.

That game though represented about as good a game as was possible between the two teams, of equal caliber. The Longhorns are not the "Superior" team. They just won that game, which of course means they are the Champions, I accept that.

Absolutely a great game by both teams. I think that Bush lateral will go down in history along side Carl Webber's timeout against Duke and Nick the Brick's free throws during the NBA playoffs. Aside from that, the game was incredible. I like your quote by Nugent by the way. Go Horns!

USC beat themselves. I do give credit to Vince for keeping his composure after a mixed 1st quarter performance. He was clearly the best player in that game. Congrats.

USC did not beat themselves. If they had punted instead of going for the first down, Vince would have scored with less time left. UT won fair and square.

I'm not referring to the final UT drive. In the first half, SC was deep in UT territory 3 times. Bad offensive play calling and that confounded Bush lateral cost SC 3 scores in the 1st half. SC should have been up by 3 scores and have had the game put away by the time Vince made his final drive. The final UT touchdown would have been academic.

As good as UT defense is, SC could pretty much score at will against them with a short pass and running attack.

Oh, and UT did win fair and square. I never said or implied anything to the contrary. There is nothing wrong with benefiting from your opponent's mistakes. That's what UT did.

You could say the same thing for UT...they were in the zone several times and missed or settled for field goals. UT took the game, they didn't just benefit from USC's mistakes. That would be like saying that USC didn't beat Fresno State, (who could score at will on USC that game), they just benefited from Fresno State's mistakes late in the game. You had a great run, but you have to give it up to UT. Saying that UT just lucked out sounds like sour grapes to me.

No, not sour grapes, just an objective analysis. Could care less at this point who won and who lost. It's just a college football game (3 to 4 hours of entertainment). Don't take it so seriously. It should be a diversion, not an obsession.

judging by your tag line and the way you feel the need to justify your USC loss, i would say you are the one who is obsessed with college football.

No the tag line is the bait, and you rise to it every time.

Your tag line should read: 4th and 1, 2:09 left in the 4th quarter, Lendale gets stuffed and the Longhorns march down the field and score with 18 seconds left in USC's undefeated season.
