I disagree. Ann is well known as a conservative, which would immediately lose roughly 50% the audience. I think "Fair and Balanced" is a nice target. Why not shoot for reporting the news with no spin, no slant? The big problem is most of the people who go into journalism are either lefties to start, or get converted by the leftist professors.
Someone like Brit Hume would be awesome.
They couldn't find a more fitting character to fill Rather's shoes.

60 mil over 5 years....that puts her in Terrell Owens territory. Come to think of it, she is the "Terrell Owens" of morning show hosts.
CBS is like the pro sports team that throws money at veteran free agents (with bad knees) in the hopes of righting a sinking franchise. Katie is rumored to be on her way out at NBC. Why pay her 12 mil today when you can get her a lot cheaper when she gets canned?
Katie will land somewhere. CBS appears to be going down in flames.

Paying her 60 mil is like stuffing money down a rat hole. When I think of all the starving crack babies that could be educated with that money I am appaled.

This raises the issue of what was she hired to do?
If she has the editorial control that Rather had, it is true. I she is merely a newsreader with a perky atttuder, then her extremeism might be edited out. When she is in a tightly scripted role with little or no abillity to adlib her extreme bias might be moderated.
I would think it reasonable for CBS to put out a sheep clothed as a wolf. Moderation with a false liberal presentor.
Bottom line she will be sick of it like you said.

My wife and daughter will love the picture because we've got an older cat like those, name Pierre (my daughter named him when she was younger).
This is so pathetic. They can't get people to watch their news because they present biased and liberal slanted news. Rather then fix the way they report the news they are going to hire a face. This is going to be a dismal failure for CBS. The days of network news are done and gone. They need to get over it.
