Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Solder, wire, twist-ties, superglue, spare fan.
All fixed and now it is redundant. Happy computer.

Well, speaking of which...
We were all leaving, going our various ways...Steve and the jedis to a hockey game, me...I was going to pick up a few Christmas gifts, run by the liquor store and get some wine, pick up some chinese take-out and come home...spend a pleasant evening in the Hole.
My car wouldn't start. That fuse is giving me grief again, and normally I can fix it but just couldn't this time.
Dang, I just got it out of the shop (the power steering went out).
So, I've got 2 ounces of wine and a bowl of popcorn and a pleasant evening in the Hole!

Evening All: We have had some of OT's sausage balls and can truthfully attest to their deliciousness. They are 'vey' good.
OT: we had ours today. Company bought five hams and the rest of the office supplied the rest. Goodies galore. Somehow I feel that not everyone was at their productive best this afternoon.

We had our "holiday" party last week. I was blissfully on travel.

You heard from Becky at all today? What a harrowing story she told!

They had these Post-it notes so you could label your stuff. One lady brought poppy cake. On her note she put "you will flunk a drug test."

hey we just watched a great movie on dvd that is astoundingly pro-life. It must be a mistake because Hollywood would never allow anything like this to be made. Must be why it was a flop in the theaters.
Get thee to see The Island
The action sequences a bit too long and get a bit silly, but the story is good. Darn good. Will make you think of GATTACA.

Whoops, was logged in on LSA, that was OB.
LF: sometimes that's not a bad thing, traveling, ours starts at 11:30 and continued all the way till 13:00. Only the group lunch to go, and the 'holiday merriment' will be thankfully over for another year.
OT: that's great. Wish I had thought of it. Hmmm.

That's out on DVD? I wanted to see it in the theater, but I didn't get to.

Evening Corin, glad to hear you'll be able to get the tooth fixed up. Having had two go nuclear on me, it is something that you want to have fixed 'stat'.

Hehehehe.....that lady was from the metabolism group.

We're watching the special features right now. They're trying so hard to spin it as an action movie for guys... not one word on the moral themes of the story. Figgers.
To: Ramius
Evening Ramius - sounds like quite a concert, the setting and all, a true downtown experience. Actually a good cigar would have helped with the evening, along with a pocket flask, as long as you're into the 'noir' experience.

The special features for Gattaca made it sound like they'd really originally gone for a heavy pro-life sort of message, but some scenes got cut or changed. Interesting.

One good thing about The Island is that there's no Jude Law. ;)

And there's Ewan McGregor.
Jude Law was OK in that, though...because he wasn't SUPPOSED to be a great guy. It was more believable. ;-)
