Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

...Spending a late night out on a work night drinking putrid beer in a room full of dead-smellin' hippies is even worse! LOL! Yeah, the part about the body odor of the crown covering up the smell of the flat beer and old pee really endeared the place to me too. Maybe the beer WAS pee. Ya just never know in places like that.

around sipping putrid beer (really... I took the first ones back... tried another tap... and it was putrid too... gave up)Maybe the beer WAS pee.
Leeeermme tell y'all a story from back when I was drinkin'...
I didn't like beer until I spent a couple weeks in Germany (this was pre-Army). When I came back, I tried a few brands and settled on Stroh's as an acceptable variety.
Once in a bar somebody bought a round of Budweiser. I picked up this glass and-- just as it got under my nose, I caught a whiff.
'Zackly like pee.
Didn't drink it.

Went down to raid the department plotluck and saw some people watching movies on company time. They were not slacking though. It was a test of a flight entertainment system in a vibe chamber. The system was in the chamber getting 'shook' and the movies it was playing were getting routed out to some big tv's in the hall. Someone had to sit and keep tabs on the test.
Wish I had that job... so hard to get motivated before the holiday.

Not much going on where I work either. Everybody's either on vacation, getting ready to go on vacation, or thinking about being on vacation.

Success!
The sausage balls are all gone! I made some "cheese rounds" too - they're like the sausage balls, but cheddar cheese only. There are still a few of those left...but they beat out the "cheddar cookies." Picked up a couple of cheddar cookies to take home just to keep tabs on the competition. :)
The tortellini stuff got scarfed up big time around lunch. If we ever have one of these things again I'll bring something a bit more "lunchy" like hot wings and ranch dressing.
To: RosieCotton
Actually... I'm not completely sure that formalde-beer really existed... there's some foul tasting beers in the world, especially in places with no refrigeration. It is entirly possible it was just a euphamism concocted to explain the really lousy taste.
