Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Let's say for the sake of argument that the worst-case scenario plays out and you head home.
First of all, why does your tail have to be between your legs?
It took a lot of guts to leave everything you've ever known behind and move halfway across the country. You learned to drive on highways and unfamiliar roads. You've seen, heard and tasted stuff you never had before. You met new people whose paths may cross yours somewhere else one day.
You've accomplished more than you know and it has nothing to do with a job.
No experience is a mistake, Rosie. Trust in that.
Of course, all of the above still applies when you finally land that dream job you've been waiting for. Or that's been waiting for you, I should say. :-D

Thanks, Ruthy. I know I'm just stating the negative. I guess I just expected things to fall into place somewhat, and other than the leaving part, which went almost frighteningly quickly and easily, very little has happened as I hoped it would.
Going home when I haven't really had a job or many experiences here bothers me...because so many questioned my decision to come out here. If I go home in semi-defeat...I'm going to get a lot of I-told-you-sos, if only implied ones.
Well...there's still that job I'm going to call about tomorrow. I just don't have a good feeling about the fact that he hasn't called me first. Makes me wonder if he's SUPPOSED to interview three or four of us, but didn't bother with mine. But I'm imagining worst case scenarios where they don't necessarily exist.

I wonder who exactly would use pink duct tape.
Barbie doesn't strike me as the duct tape type.
