Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

And just how many people are on the lake looking at the Capitol at any given time? Idjits.
They need to plant some bushes on that slope to hold the dirt in place. Junipers would do the trick because their root system goes down about 5 feet!! I know this because we had to pull some out of the front yard of the first house we bought. They lined the sidewalk in front, and caught every single leaf, piece of paper or other trash that happened to blow down the street. We even thought about hitching the base of the bush to our car bumper to pull it out, but our neighbor said if we liked the bumper where it is, we'd better not do that. SirKit finally had to dig the thing completely out and hack at the roots with an ax. Took him hours!

Heyyyy.....you can see the building!

Here's an earlier picture. (BIG) I can't tell when this was taken, but you can see how they had plans for a switchback path down to the lake (I think they've given up on that at this point) and little shrubs planted (probably Junipers) but things had begun to go wrong at this point already, as evidenced by the small slides already visible, the repair job and replant on the right hand side, and the pipes running every which way ;~D

I think they're trying to plant stuff, they just can't keep up with it.

No - the only reason for cutting it was so people could see the capital from the lake.Considering what goes on in most state capitals, better to leave things hidden.
It would have made more sense to just thin out the trees by selective cutting. But when have governments been accused of an excess of sense?

Gotta go home and plop some cat food in the dish.

Considering what goes on in most state capitals, better to leave things hidden.Maybe it'll be cheaper overall if the whole Legislative building fell into the lake ;~D

Poor kitty...wasting away...heh.
These guys have designated roles. Halvah informs me if the water isn't up to snuff (i.e. more than a couple hours old) or if the food is low, and Tam puts up a fuss if the litter box doesn't meet standards.

Please folks. Pray for the family of
Walter Cordle III.
He was my niece's ex-boyfriend, and still remained a very dear friend to the family. He was killed in a car accident on Monday night.
My heart just breaks for his parents and sisters (and my niece, of course).

Just such a waste. He was a good kid, even for a ~teenager~.

It's awful that these things happen.
What a nice obit they wrote. The online guest book is a really interesting thing to do with the obituaries.

What they need is a product called GrassPave. It's a plastic material that comes in a grid pattern. It's designed to create a driveway through which grass can still grow. So it's a greenway that can be driven on if need be. It also does a great job on slopes in danger of erosion. It holds the dirt in place while the grass is taking hold. That slope is a perfect example of a need for the stuff.
