Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Next time we have a moot, I should give you some of my sourdough starter! It's really going wonderfully!
I'm going to make bread again tonight or tomorrow - been having toast for breakfast, so the little loaf I made is down to the last few slices. I'm really happy with this last batch, so I guess I'm goin' the instinctive way again - recipes be hanged!

...I've convinced that he is a complete nutjob. Scary!

They are vey tasty, but I have not had success in making one from scratch. They are always too dense. I got a 'kit' from King Arthur Flour this year, so I'm going to give that a try.
I just hope each year that no one will break a tooth on the little plastic baby. I always warn folks that it's there. I'll make a canister of fudge and cookies to give to the person who gets it. In New Orleans, the custom is that whoever gets the baby has to give the next Mardi Gras party!

I'll make a canister of fudge and cookies to give to the person who gets it. Now I *really* wish I could come!
Let us know how it turns out!
Once I'm doing better financially, it'd be fun to get some little things from the King Arthur Flour store - it's such a neat place! Didn't you get your butter storer from them as well? And I want another one of these at some point, too. Had one - a different brand, but similiar - but left it behind in the move, and I imagine it's long gone. They really work wonderfully - much easier to clean up than the old bread board we used to have, though they aren't as good for cutting things out, I admit. For kneading, though...I got hooked. They're well worth having!
The actual "brick and mortar" store is rather dangerous, no? ;-) Wonder what kind of sales they have this time of year. Maybe next year I'll be home right after Christmas and can do some finding out!

Oops...looks like the site uses sessions, so my link doesn't work. But it was *supposed* to go to one of those silicone kneading mats. They're vey nice.
To: RosieCotton
You know you're not supposed to look at those threads. You know this. If I were there I'd be shuttin' off the internet to your computer so you couldn't look for a while ;-)

What was that a link to, Rosie? I got a page that said the link had expired. It can be vey dangerous to look through that catalogue, as well as shop in the store. I got some nice things on sale when I stopped there in June, including a nice shortbread mold, in the shape of snowflakes, and some cookie cutters.
I DO love their Fruitcake Mix. It is a 30oz bag of dried chopped pineapples, raisins, apricots, cranberries and dates that is just delicious!! I make cookies using it, and even though SirKit hates fruitcake, he loves these cookies! I'll be making those for the party.

Let me take these things graaaaduallly...

I'm going to be sending you to therapy groups... "Hi, my name is RosieCotton, and I post on stupid threads". Admitting you have a problem is the first step. Not posting is good but you have to stop looking too.

It's an attempt to comply with the "no cross-thread-posting" rule. :-D And that was an excellent post!
