Well that Tower of the Americas is closed for renovation and the 'river' part of the River Walk will be drain for annual cleaning. I guess the Alamo is still good to go. hmm... Once you figure 'who' there is still 'when' where' and 'how' which is so hard when the element of suprise is all but blown.
Thread is kinda dead this afternoon.

For the Open House, the school set up 'mock classes', with professors in the different disciplines. She chose Literature and Biology. She liked both classes very well. Joseph Pearce, who is a Tolkien scholar and has written several books about Tolkien's works, teaches at Ave Maria and taught Clare's Lit. class. I'd forgotten to tell her that he is British, so she was a little surprised when this guy with a British accent walked in and started teaching.

She also enjoyed the Biology class and said that the Professor explained something clearly that she had been having difficulty understanding, so we was really impressed. She came out of the classes with her mind made up that she wanted to do all four years there. She'll then go out to AZ to do the Digital Video Editing work.

They really do have some wonderful folks there. I've heard a lot of great things about Joseph Pearce, just as a writer - neat that he's part of Ave Maria! I believe John knows him, but he seems to know everyone connected to Catholic publishing. I'm envious. ;-)

Would she be starting this coming fall? I keep forgetting how old she is... For that matter, at this point I can hardly keep track of my own siblings' ages! I still think of some of them as being pretty young, and they aren't...

You're smart, Rosie and you'll be able to learn any machine they throw at you. When I graduated from college, I knew that SirKit and I were getting married within a couple of years, so I was just looking for a job for a year to fill the time. I interviewed at a lumber company where by brother worked. He told me they were looking for a phone operator, and radio operator for outside sales. They were going to be getting a new phone system, so when I interviewed, and he asked me if I'd ever done that sort of work, I told him I hadn't but that apparently he'd have to train whoever he hired, so he might as well hire someone who could learn fast! As it turns out, the gal from the phone company came in one morning, and was surprised when I had learned it by the end of that day.

So just let folks know that you'll be able to learn it, if someone can show you the basics.

I'm still kinda hopin' I'll get a call back from the company I was working for. Granted, if I did, it would likely be for more computer setup work, and that's not something that would last forever. But it'd give me more time, and who knows what might happen down the line? I got the impression the helpdesk folks were being run ragged, and if they could convince the company of that...well...

Yeah, she'll be finished with her high school stuff in June of 2006, and she'll be off to FL in August.

Well, if you're there doing something else, they wouldn't have to look too far for an experienced helpdesk person, and you could drop some broad hints along the way that it's something you've done before.

See, between Hair and me, it's like STEREO!

<laughing> You could take her to the Mud Festival. I swear, nobody parties like San Antonio ... for two weeks their big tourist attraction is a concrete pit half-full of stinking mud, and what do they do? Make a party out of it!

The Tower is closed for renovations??? Heck, they just renovated it twenty years ago! How often must they change the scenery?

Well, there's still Mi Tierra's! The Zoo! Brackenridge Park and the train! (Weather permitting, of course.) And maybe some barbecue?

Next time y'all're in Texas, I'll take you to Kreutz' (pronounced Crite's) over to Lockhart, where your meat is served on butcher paper, people sit at communal picnic tables, the only knife is chained to the table, and your silverware comes attached to the palms of your hands. Finger-licking good! Nim-nim-nim!

Woohooo! I'm back on line...I'm connected to the world again.

Still awaiting word from the powers that be to see if I'll be going to Shawnee to help feed the firefighters...

Will log in later or in the morning.

Mud Festival? How... interesting that sounds. Maybe I should actually read the link before commenting.

Hmm, you're making me hungry for meat here. Not that it takes much to do that.
