Morning! I'm going to spend the day with a friend, catching up. It should be fun.
No new puddles under the car this morning.
So far, so good.
That is good news!
Mornin'
Can't stay long, gots to get this project done.
Mrs. got off ~okay~ for her trip to Las Vegas (and yes, BTW, I did try to talk her out of going).
BUT, we're currently not happy with USScare. Her flight was at 6:30. I dropped her at the curb and got a skycap to assist her whilst I parked the car. It was before 6:00 (my parking receipt said 5:55). The USScare agent told her to go to the kiosk (she had an electronic ticket), but the kiosk wasn't working. So when she got back to the counter, the agent said "it's after 6:00, we can't get you on this flight with your baggage."
AND, they wouldn't let her on the flight and send her luggage later. I told her she should have said "Why not, that's what you did the last time..."
Granted, I haven't flown since 9/11 and was completely oblivious to the 30-minute rule. Whilst it makes sense, she ~was~ at the counter befor 6:00 (okay, just barely). What annoys me (us) is that if the agent had just checked her in (like she tried to do when the kiosk wasn't working), then she would have made it.
She got on a 7:30 flight and will only be slightly late for her meeting. But the special arrangements and preferential seating she had pre-arranged are now "iffy." She ~was~ on the same flight as her boss who was going to help with luggage, plane changes, etc.
~sigh~
Happy New Year...
In other news, Nana just called and said she can't get the back door open (I think we left with all of the keys, although ~she~ has one somewhere). It's a big deal because Sam won't go out the front door. He's gonna have to hold it for another five hours until Jr. gets home...
;-)
(back later)
So will this be another Corin year, then?
HEY! Hi ksen!
Corin, Sam can't wait that long.
Why won't he go out the front door?
These days, the *new* 30min rule is 30min before boarding which is 30min before departure.
My mother, othh, has a 2-hour rule seared into her very soul. Her flight home departed at 0600. My initial plans were to get to the airport at 0500 - the new 30-min rule which I use routinely. She got so anxious that I finally agreed to get her to the airport at 0400. Once there, we stood in line for 45 min because the counter/kiosks didn't open until 0445. Heh.
I imagine there's lots to catch up on! It was a very eventful holiday for ya. *wink*wink*
Would we really want it any other way?
He was just trained to go out the back door. For years we took him out on a leash (until Nana trained him otherwise). The front door is for ~walks~ and ~rides~. He knows Nana doesn't take him for those.
The first week we had him was just after Christmas when Jr. was in 4th grade. We had company because my sister-in-law got married on Jan 2. Wife and I had a business dinner, so Nana, Papa, Jr., Sister-in-law (she-of-the-burned-ham) and the Japanese teacher that was living with us were at home with Sam. He had to go, but ~noone~ could open the back door (it's the same key as the front). To Norry's (Japanese teacher) credit, he was upstairs and didn't know this was happening.
Jr. insisted that he could only go out the back door.
So they listened to a 9-year-old and let Sam pee on the carpet.
We were aiming for that, but getting her there on crutches took a bit longer. I haven't flown much since we lived in DC when 30 minutes would have been plenty of time, even during Gulf War I.
I understand the need for the rules and we were pushing it by not being there earlier. I even understand why I had to take of ~my~ shoes just to accompany her to the gate.
We weren't the only ones this happened to. And the agent ~could~ have made it work.
Stories.
I gots tons of 'em.
They could have gotten her on one of those beepy-carts and driven her to the gate.
She has that for her connecting flights.
Hey, long time no see! How ya been?
Good morning! If barely, for some folks...
Halvah hasn't yet figured out that there's food in her bowl. I have to walk into the kitchen and show her before it will dawn on her. Stoopid critter.
I think they just like to be served. Cartman does the same thing. Even if the bowl is full, he'll sit there and meow at me till I mix it a bit with my fingers.
Rosie.... I know it's really hard to stop, but you can't argue reason into an insane person. (That sentence was unrelated to the cat) :~D
Yeah, I just said I was done.
Another thought did occur to me, though. If guys who are thirty should be looking ten years younger, and ONLY ten years younger...what happens to the vast majority of the troops, who are younger than thirty? Hmmm?
Anyhow. I'm done.
