Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Corin - EXCELLENT work on the venerable HH group. What a bunch of party animals.

LOL! I love the little additions!
To: Overtaxed
Hmmm. Possibly; or if the oil filter wasn't tightened sufficiently.
We're off for dinner, get ahead of the non HH party animals.

Just checked the mail. Got a letter from the college saying they hired someone else.
Life is just beyond unfair a lot of the time. There's a lot more I'd like to say, but I'd probably regret it. I know there's no use worrying about things I can't fix, but I needed that job - and yesterday. I honestly don't know what's gonna happen if I don't find something within a few weeks, which doesn't seem remotely likely based on my past experience.
I really wish I coulda not gotten that letter until Monday.
To: RosieCotton
Sorry Rosie. That's very disappointing.

Tomorrow begins a new year, Rosie.
It's full of promise and don't let your mind trick you into believing otherwise!
And do as Scarlett would do and don't think about that until tomorrow. :-D
Maybe you'll bump into someone at the party who knows someone who's hiring. You never know, so chin up, OK?

And blessings to you and yours, Corin.
You'll be keeping me company tonight in a way, since I plan on watching that DVD. :-D

Or if you left the old gasket on when replacing the filter. That can make a BIG puddle of oil :P
To: TalonDJ
Well it's not a big puddle....it's not pooling or anything. It's a bit greasy under the hood especially on the top of....the oil filter thingy.
I'm thinking stock up on oil before driving to OB's and revisiting the oil change guys at the first opportunity.

<hugging you!>
On a positive note, you heard from a contractor about something. Call them, right now ... it's only 4:50 where you are. Leave a message for the recruiter --- don't worry, they'll get it Tuesday morning.
Finish the fringe on your scarf, and go party. Eat black-eyed peas and collards if they have 'em, pop a few firecrackers for luck, and know that God's got a plan.
I mean, you had just enough yarn to finish that scarf ... that just doesn't happen every day!

I already left a message with the contractor yesterday...but since the ad is down and I haven't heard back, I'm assuming they filled the position.
I just don't have much hope left at this point. But thanks for the encouragement - it does mean a lot that I have friends.
To: Rose in RoseBear
Day before yesterday, that is.
To: RosieCotton
had *exactly* enough yarn - absolutely none to spare, but exactly enough for the fringe strands - the yarn ran out at the end of the last one. Fascinating...Bodes well...Have a wonderful time at your party tonight!
We just got home from eating out; went to the Tex-Mex place. MMMmm. Brought half of it home because we wanted to get some dessert. We got both Banana Burritos and Chocolate Truffle Cake, and the four of us shared.
It started snowing again while we were there, but we're back home in the warm. I can hear the fireworks from Worcester's First Night celebration. It's gonna be a COLD one! A fire in the fireplace might be in order.

Yeah, what Ruthy said, Rosie!! I'm sorry that job didn't work out, but one never knows, something better could have been lurking out there and you may not have been able to take advantage of it if you'd gotten that college job.
Just thinking positive! But PLEASE don't let this spoil your enjoyment of the party. Don't wait for tomorrow; consider tonight the start of a whole new year and have FUN!!
