Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Does eggnog freeze? You could freeze a carton to have in March or sometime when you really need it. I dunno...being as how it has eggs in it, I'd think it wouldn't freeze well. And I never really *need* it...just like it!
It could be worth experimenting, I guess.

"Bothers" has been a term for them for quite a while, Rosie uses it too sometimes. And I still maintain you were the first to mistype "brothers" as "bothers", before it became a standard tyspo...
Gonna make Bear check one of these days! ;-)

How's that scarf going? It's going! I really haven't gotten to it this morning, as Margaret called and talked for a long time. But it's a couple feet long. I'm not sure how long I'll make it. I'm also worrying I'm not gonna be able to figure out how to do fringe, when I get to that stage. It doesn't seem like it should be hard, but I dunno! I need to find a site with pictures, I guess.

My list starts off: Alaska, Australia, Austria, Britain... and gets more confused from there. There are a whole lot of places I'd love to go!

Let Nana plant them in your yard to see if they grow back during the summer!

Possible, possible... since we've both got lots of bothers, it works for us. However, we both use the term now.

Thanks y'all! It was 16 years ago tonight that my rickety old car made it to Austin. We're going out to lunch to celebrate!

Nana ain't up to plantin' anything. And I think they'd freeze here anyway.
I ~might~ try to keep one or two...but not nine...

My list starts off: Alaska, Australia, Austria, Britain... When I lived in DC, I had a business associate who visited town frequently. She and a few other friends were working their way through the restaurants in the yellow pages alphabetically. They thought they would have problems with "E" but had to choose from about 2 dozen Ethiopian restaurants.
My travel list isn't alphabetized. Right now the place I want to visit is Tuscany...

Since I haven't been anywhere, I have to manage my list somehow! I don't necessarily want to travel in alphabetical order, just keep track of where I've been and where I want to be.
