That yarn sounds lovely, and I just know it's gonna look great with that sweater! I have tried my hand with that fun fur yarn yet. Clare did some knitting with it, and it looked really cute!
Poor Gidget. The Broken Dog. :-P
I don't think anyone is a fan of checkpoints, but it's a sad side-effect of an irresponsible society.
If folks had enough sense to know when they're too far gone to get behind the wheel or just stay home to tie one on but good, the whole checkpoint/DUI thing wouldn't exist.
Now, that said, I think that checkpoints have morphed into the "find a way to ticket everyone" game. And do not get me started on the ridiculously low BAC they use to arrest you.
If I have ~one~ lousy beer...*snap*, I'm over the limit. That's silly.
It isn't scary unless you're drunk, sis.
They're terribly annoying and if the cop is grouchy cuz he had to work on New Year's, it can be aggravating too.
*laughing*
I love it!
I'd think the realllly furry yarn would be awfully hard to use. At least this one has a pretty easy-to-see core. That helps a lot. It's not *nearly* as fuzzy as most, but does have a nice texture. It's reallllly soft.
I tried to find a picture of it on-line, but apparently it's a brand only Hobby Lobby carries, and they don't have much of a website. They link to a sister site (Crafts Etc.), but it isn't on that site.
I used to have a animated gif that was a wriggling duck taped to the wall, but I couldn't find that one. It is VEY funny!
It would have been closer to reality though!
How'd you do it, Suzi? What worked for you when it came to bedtime resistance?
I'll read your answer in the morning. :-D
For now, I'd better get to bed myself.
Nighty night everyone!
Yah... My basic beef with checkpoints is that they are unnecessary and obnoxious. Drunks are easy to spot on the road. The person driving well-- in such a manner that an observer (like a cop) following them on the road can't develop a reasonable suspicion (legal term, there...) that they are under the influence-- that person shouldn't be pulled over. To do so would be a search without probable cause.
Its the crazy-drunks that are dangerous. Ma and Pa Out-to-dinner with a couple of drinks under their belt are simply not where the big risk is.
Cops are trained to always be able to say they 'smelled' alcohol, as a way to get somebody out of the car. I had to do the drunk-walk one night with a county sheriff that pulled me over for speeding and "said" he smelled alcohol. But-- I hadn't been drinking.
I passed the test, of course (though, some of that stuff is really hard... even sober... LOL).
But it was late... I was tired... driving a little too fast. He figured the odds were good, he just happened to guess wrong.
Nite nite Rutheee!
Well... I think I'm off to the USS Couch for a bit...
See y'all!
:-)
Well, Clare was 2 when Joseph was born, and took to wandering at night. I went to put Joseph back in his crib once after nursing him, and on the way back to my room, checked Clare's room. She wasn't in her room, and I found her at the bottom of the stairs! She hadn't fallen, she'd scooted on her bum right down the stairs and rolled up in her blanket. After that night, I put a lock on her door at night when I put her to bed. The first couple of nights she laid down on the floor and cried at the door, but after that, I made sure she was quite tired so that she collapsed in bed and didn't wake up in the night.
Yes, it was heartless, but I couldn't think of another way to keep her from wandering around the house and possibly falling down the stairs!
Of course she was the 'Mother's curse'; one that your Mother wishes you'd have who is 'just like you'! I took to wandering after my younger sister was born, when I was 15 mos. old. Mama never knew where to find me in the morning. Once I was behind the couch in the living room, once I ended up in my older sister's bed! Once, she found me washing my hair at two in the morning. I told her, "I give myself a Halo Shampoo." We lived in a single story house, though, and the worst thing Mama did was pin me to her PJ's at night so when I tried to climb out of the bed, she'd hold me down.
So there's my sad tale of woe. Shocking, I know. Clare didn't turn out any the worse for it, though, so I guess it wasn't too awful! ;o)
Oh Rosie...it's beautiful! You're going to looking stuning in it!
And it one of those things you can dress up or down...would look dressy with slacks and really nice with jeans too!
That sure was a nice friend...
:-D
XGI's address shoulda been in the envelope with the DVD, unless ~ahem~ Suzi fergot it.
I just sent it to you via FReepmail.
Sure was! ;-)
And it's nice and cozy, too!
I think the scarf is going to turn out lovely, too. I've never worn a scarf just for deocoration before, though Mom often did. If I like this...I may well be makin' one for every day of the week. ;-) This yarn is just unbelievable soft - I wouldn't mind having an extra skein to just carry around to pet. Heh...
If only you knew :~D
I don't think I ever want to see another Cannibal movie unless it's a musical :~D
Yer sayin' it's impossible to even *fathom* the wrongness of it without seeing it?
That's frightening.
We saw "Chicago" tonite. Gregory Harrison played Billy Flynn. Now wife is watching it on Bravo to see how the movie was different.
It's actually not as bad as you might think :~D
It's a love story :~D
I haven't seen that :~D
