Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Good evenin'! Just checking in. Saw Mom off this morning at oh-dark-thirty. She had a nice visit and that makes me super happy. Came home, slept a couple hours, did some laundry, and went shopping for groceries and sundries. Stopped by my favorite store in the local outlet mall and they were having a fabulous sale to clear out all the winter colors. Soooo the purty sweaters were $10 and the tee's were ... $0.99! I bought a few by golly!
We saw Kong yesterday and was plesantly surprised. It was waaaay too long, but I couldn't help getting caught up in the obvious love PJ has for the story and the genre. Will post more about it later.

I heard back from the New Year's Eve party hostess gal...she said she's planning to wear a dress, but expects a range of "dressed up", since she didn't really specify. So...I'm thinking sweater, nice black slacks and pumps should be perfect. Slightly dressy, but still comfy.
And speaking of such things, I am one *really* fortunate gal! I got an Eddie Bauer gift card as a late Christmas present from a very dear friend, so I went over to see what they had. They had that blue angora-blend sweater I pointed out yesterday - just one left, and in my size. And it's even nicer in person! So I got it! I'd post a picture, but I don't think I can from Eddie Bauer's site - it's this one, though, if you click on the blue option. I've got some dangly silver earrings that'd go nicely with it!
I'm also going to take Suzi's suggestion and make a scarf - just a simple, skinny one - to wear. It shouldn't take long. If it doesn't turn out as I'd like...well, this will look nice plain, too, but I'd like to try my hand at something pretty. Plus it'd give me a conversation starter in that I could say I made it, which never hurts. ;-) Oh, and while I was picking up a skein of yarn, I saw that they had allll crochet hooks on sale, so I picked up one of the other type of plastic hook, just to see if those are better. If any of you buy new hooks, I'm tellin' ya, look for the Boye Balene ones! This is just day to the Crystalite's night...it's amazing. Silky smooth, no horrible nails-on-a-chalkboard screech when moving yarn around, and the hook is nice and deep. I'd rather like to get their smaller ones eventually, even - I think it's *better* than the aluminum ones.
I also have a buncha movies to watch and I borrowed some good CDs from the library. Just been a really great day today, ya know?

She's a girl, she just had some not-very-well-thought-out ideas.

Excellent! I'm glad to hear you had a nice day! Mine was good, I talked to several folkses from Dad's work about their projects and found one I'm going to investigate more fully, for the... uh... possibility that I want to spend time around home this summer. And the pay is supposedly good though I got no definite there. And then Mom and I went out for dinner.
Tomorrow is Friday! Yay!

Yipee!! My Burpee's catalog came in!
To: Lil'freeper
Heh... well, I won't leave you with any false illusions... it will never actually achieve "clean" status. Merely that small portions are in a state of "cleaner than it was".

... it will never actually achieve "clean" status. Ok, that makes it all better. :P I'm always striving for "cleaner than it was".
