The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Apparently I wasn't the only one who got the 3 a.m. insurance call. I talked to my agent's office who said it was a glitch in the program. Apparently most or all of their Central Virginia customers got the call.

I got this email response back:

On behalf of all Nationwide associates, please accept my sincere apologies for the phone call you received early morning December 28, 2005. At Nationwide, we care about our customers. Our efforts to provide you with home safety tips, at a reasonable hour, were negatively impacted due to an error on the part of the company we contracted to conduct this work. We have contacted the company and suspended the program.

Heh, I'll bet THAT company's CEO got an earful from your insurance company!

Go ahead! Use any of the pots you like. Especially since my plants sort of didn't work.

Been cleaning and stuff this morning... nothing exciting. Spent the last half hour getting ready for this internship fair thingie this afternoon.

Good for her! Trig was fun, but hard, so that's not shabby at all!

"Makes me feel kindof insignificant"

"May we have your liver then?"

"Yeah. All right, you talked me into it."

I picked up some seeds - cost two bucks for a bag that should last me well into next year, no matter HOW nuts Tam goes over the stuff. Now it takes a couple days to germinate, if all goes well.

If this works (i.e. means he leaves the proper plant alone), we should get more plants! It makes a place more homey. Not sure where they'd fit, though...unless we put up hooks, and I'm not sure that's allowed.

Hmmm... :-)

Well, I was thinkin' about taking in the noon show of King Kong, but got distracted on summore housekeeping. Now I don't feel like rushing out. Maybe I'll go to the 4 o'clock show instead. or not.

If'n I was closer, I'd skip out now and meet you at the theatre! :-D

As it is, mutiny is in the air here. Upper management must smell it since they ran out and bought TWO rum cakes from our department today. hehehehe...

I'm gonna hit a matinee one of these days. Seeing as how I have Jen's sister's magic tickets...I have no excuse not to. ;-)

Let us know how you like it, if you do go see it!
