The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

The guy from the contracting company sent this note to me along with the previous blurb:

Here is the email I promised you. Below are the submittal paragraph to <prospective employer> highlighting your skills, and your formatted resume that was sent to <prospective employer>. Please do take copies of this resume with you. It would also be a good idea to be able to speak to these points below. Again, your interview is scheduled for Wednesday, 12/14 at 3:30pm with <contact at prospective employer>. He can be reached at 999-9999, and the main number is 999-9998. Be confident. You will do well on this interview. Please give me a call when you are finished. Congrats on making it to the next step!

I'm going to print this out and take it with me, and highlight the last four sentences. And this guy has never met me face-to-face; we've spoken on the phone all of twice.

This guy is the head recruiter for his office --- I see how he got the position!

She sings the last line and halfway through "branches" she makes the nastiest vomit sounds. Eeeewwww!

ROTFL!!! I feel sorry for Becky getting puked on, but I feel sorrier for that little girl who did the pukin. Bless her little heart.

Surely you show up at the hospital the first time and they say "You didn't really believe that's how babies get out, did you?" and you all have a nice laugh...

*snicker*

Epidural, sis. It's the only way to go.

I had Matthew all natural. It was an experience I felt like I had to prove. I had Joshua SO much easier with the epidural and it was just so much better on me and him. I was back on my feet, dressed, ready to go home almost like nothing had happened in just no time. And Joshua was fine, in spite of the epidural. Matthew on the other hand was stressed because I was.

With Joshua, I laughed and joked and had a great time. They'd say "Push" and I'd say "Hey! You got it!"

Steve tried to talk me out of the epidural and I yelled at him "I'M 36 YEARS OLD, I'M OLD AND I'VE HAD A HARD YEAR...I'M HAVING AN EPIDURAL!

Heh heh. He said Ok.

Some folks are able to just pop 'em out like toast though, so you never know.

HEY! I resemble that remark! ;o)

Steve went to bed. He came in from working on his paper, ate a bowl of flaxseed meal, sat in the recliner for maybe 45 minutes then went to bed.

~sigh~

I'm so sick of this school business.

I'm just back from seeing Narnia. Or...well, the first movie. We need an acronym... TLTWATW?

It was good, though I think I'll enjoy it more at a second viewing. It's always a bit disorienting to me to see something that, in a book, is a pretty long story...but then suddenly compressed into a few hours. FOTR was the same way - I almost didn't enjoy it the first time through, because things happened so fast.

Ooh...Wednesday, then? Will be praying!

I still haven't gotten the actual call for mine. Just had the employment office let me know they were referring me. I'm hoping I don't have too long to wait!

It'd be really cool if we interviewed the same day and both got offered jobs, wouldn't it? ;-)

We haven't gone yet...likely this Thursday.

I want to take the jedis before the public school kids get out for vacation. A matinee, you know?

Well, that's what I'm told.

For what that is worth.

He actually says he should be done in January some time...but again...that's liable to not mean nothin'.

Oh, I come across as grumpy. I'm really not. Just hate to commit to a date any more, you know?

I guess I should just say "I have no idea" when he'll be done.

Thank you, 2J!

I'm getting excited about this one, despite myself. It would be a cool job, and good money, and a good résumé builder.

Gotta stay frosty ...
