Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I have my first doll there somewhere. It was a Cabbage Patch doll and I kept her around long after the stuffed animals and such had been banished.

I just finished bittygirl's pillow. Iam not the best seamstress around, but I know enough to either figure stuff out or get me into big trouble.
Her pillow is (quilted) patchwork on one side and muslin on the other. It is vey small, just her size! When she lets me, I'll get a pic.

He did a good job, too! That is just like a news article.

Unsupervised Children Involved in BrawlBy Matthew S****
12/20/2005
On Sunday, December 18, 2005 two young boys were involved in a dispute while their parents relaxed and drank coffee.
The conflict occurred in their living room in Bixby Oklahoma.
The two boys were fighting because the younger boy, Josh, was emitting gas.
The older boy. Matthew, said "It didn't smell like violets, more like tofu."
One of the neighbors said "They were fighting madly, badly, meanly, and extremely."
The brawl was resolved when their dad came and made them work on cleaning up their room.
First ten FReeper replies:
Link???? Already posted here
Products of publik skools no doubt...
The neighbor sounds like an idiot...
Boys fight... shoulda just let 'em go. We're raising wimps in this country!
That's ridiculous. My brouther used to beat me up all the time. It's no laughing matter.
Note the DAD had to take action... But I thought dad's weren't important!
People shouldn't drink coffee
Tofu does ~not~ smell like a fart.
Yes it does. Exactly like a fart...
Well it definately doesn't smell like violets.

Oh - I forgot a comment about whether it really should have been placed in Breaking News...
Followed by the poster saying they hadn't ~intended~ to put it in breaking news...

Whereupon it would be moved OUT of breaking news, and at least two or three late-comers would call the original a complainer an idiot - "It's not IN Breaking News!!!"
To: HairOfTheDog
Not to mention the one that the did a search and did not SEE the other post and the two that tell them the title is wrong.

Matthew thinks this is all pretty funny...

Also at least one cranky FReeper talking about how in the old days, only *real* news would have been posted, and the place is going to heck in a handbasket.

Those are lovely colors, Rosie!! Looks like you did a great job, too. When is their baby due?
For a wedding gift for SirKit, I crocheted a king size blanket in that ripple stitch, in a variegated combo that was black with all kinds of bright colors. It was vey nice, and we still have it! He made a hope chest for me out of redwood. We still have that, too! I didn't go the route of all the other girls who got hope chests when they graduated high school. I got a 12 string guitar, instead. Still have that, too, though I haven't played it in YEARS!
Mama crocheted baby blankets for all her grandchildren. We kept them for each of the kids. My Daddy was always mystified that something with that many holes in it could be so warm. ;o)

#2 son asked for some fuzzy polyhedral dice for when he gets a car. Clare and I are going to make a set for him, though they likely won't be done in time for Christmas. He'll be here for almost a month, and we can do them during that time.

The baby is due the first week of January, so I'm giving the blanket to Anne for Christmas.
I haven't talked to Ben in a bit, but the kids say he's incredibly nervous. I guess I can see that. ;-)
Next ripple blanket I do, if I do one, will likely be more like yours - I'd like to do black with a bunch of bright colors. We'll see, though. I want to try something different first, though I may give up in frustration!
