Sure you won't.
Hmmm, wait until printable RFID becomes a reality.
This is done more often than is reported... this is why RFID is such a key to the retail future.
4.99?....Idiot.
Back in the days when they had price tag stickers, people used to switch those.
A lot of times the clerk with the sticky gun would put the wrong price on the items by accident too.

wrote a statement for police that begged them not to prosecute him
And this idiot is allowed to vote?
I hope he wasn't planing on law school down the road. This felony conviction will impact him in ways he still cannot fathom.
In related news, another brilliant college student downloaded news stories about bank robberies and then attempted to rob his local bank. When caught he swore he would "NEVER EVER DO IT AGAIN." With that sort of promise, how could the police press charges? So they released him. /sarc
He could have at least made the price believable. But then even at $104.99 he probably still couldn't afford it. He'd have done better to go for the straight shoplifting. At least he'd only be facing the misdemenor theft charges instead of the felony forgery charges.
Idiot is right.
He'll be the next rising star in the Democratic Party.
You were a kid 2 years ago. Now you're gonna be someone's girlfriend.
Just make sure you remember that after you serve your time bozo.
Ah, the old "ignorance of the law" plea. I wonder how that will work out for him.
What a stupid plan in the first place.
Even a pretty dumb clerk will usually notice that the season's hottest item that normally costs 149.99 shouldn't be ringing up as 4.99.
LOL! That's the best response on this thread!
He wont' get convicted of a felony.
He'll probably manage to plead it down to a misdemeanor and get a suspended sentence.
Heck, lots of people write bad checks, and not many of them end up with a felony conviction (it's still forgery).
Another one of Ward's students??

Stupid kid...I would've bought a Ferrari for $4.99. |
That is, he's not "terribly sorry" that he did it -- just "terribly sorry" that he got CAUGHT.
