ESPN Suspends Michael Irvin, But ESPN Article Never Says So
ESPN.com ^

Check out the ESPN article below. It states that "Michael Irvin will not make his scheduled appearances" this weekend. But it conveniently fails to mention that ESPN suspended him.

I suppose you can figure that out by reading between the lines, but to actually see the "S" word used, you would have to go to another media source, such as this MSNBC article, which is flatly headlined "ESPN Suspends Irvin Following Drug Arrest":

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/10284945/

Some mighty sensitive souls in Bristol, CT, no?

----------------------------------------

Michael Irvin will not make his scheduled appearances on the Sunday and Monday Night NFL Countdown shows on Dec. 4 and 5, ESPN announced Thursday.

The former Cowboys wide receiver, who is in his third year as an analyst for the network, will resume his regular role on Sunday, Dec. 11.

Irvin was stopped for speeding on Friday, Nov. 25, in Plano, Texas, and arrested on an outstanding warrant for a previous speeding violation. His car was searched, revealing a pipe and plastic bags with marijuana residue.

He was then charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken into custody by the Plano police, and released later that evening.

ESPN first learned of the arrest on Sunday, Nov. 27.

"I understand I was wrong for not divulging the information on Friday," Irvin said today. "I accept ESPN's decision and look forward to return to my teammates next week."

I saw Irvin on TV claim he actually did frisk the guy before letting him into his house for Thanksgiving.

I think Rush meant to say it about Duante Culpepper.

Is Irvin still on probation for all that mess he did when he was still a Cowboy?
Can't this guy ever get the message? He should be fired from ESPN.

Don't forget the kids.

Yeah. That's right. Great idea. Pipes "for the children." Sounds so Hillaryesque. :-)

He should be fired from ESPN.

Now. Now. He didn't commit a termination level offense...what is illegal drug use in comparison to something more serious...such as criticizing Donovan McNabb's performance.

Seems like a lot of people have missed it, but ESPN's gone down the tubes the last five years or so.

Especiall now, since their fued with NASCRAP is over and they're reporting on races as if they're actual sports events.

Irvin found it when he frisked him when he invited him to his house for Thanksgiving.

That's why I don't do Thanksgiving anymore. The security checks are outrageous.

RESIDUE? How pathetic. Nice to know there is no other crime in Dallas to occupy the time of these officers.

I like ESPN, but they are clearly treating Irvin with kid gloves.

Kid gloves for marijuana "residue"? Gimme a break. Irvin is not an active player. So what if he smokes some pot on the side.

Anyone who I have to frisk before letting them into my house and around my family......well, let's just say I wouldn't even let it get that far.

They have way to many stupid programs on all their channels now.

Their sports news is nothing more than you can find anywhere else and there are more entertaining programs elsewhere. Plus you can tell that their anchors are simply reading off a teleprompter. Most do, but at ESPN it's obvious.

ESPN was great when it was novel but has since become run-of-the-mill at best.

I don't have a problem with that. It's their standard stuff. BORING! NFL Primetime's still good.

He should have been suspended for his stupid and racist remarks about Romo.
