The *Official* Weekend FR Singles Thread
October 15, 2005 | pcottraux

Posted on 11/25/2005 6:31:08 PM PST by pcottraux

Hello, all.

paul has surprised us by not starting the thread this week (another power outage, could it be?) As the emergency backup guy, I will have to go ahead and post the thread and do the pinging honors. I don't have an updated version of the ping list, so my apologies to anyone who was added recently who isn't on here.

Now start chatting while I look up some cute pictures.

Fresno State could beat the Lions.

I knoe this is really cliche here but I might as well say it, "my 90 year old grandmother could beat the Lions."

Oh.. and BTW-- I did NOT go to the malls early this morning, or today.... NOT interested!!!

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I'll see if I could find out how to number the pages in Word. Which Word do you have? I have Word 97 and 2000. Mom still likes WordPerfect 5.1 up to the point to where she prefers to use the old Dell '486 of 1992 vintage. If I had to type a book, I'd probably use her and the old Dell. B-)

As to "Black Friday," couldn't participate if I wanted to (which I never do anyhoo) I had to work yesterday, it is 2nd Quarter close at work and it is very busy, especially when were short so many hands.

My goodness, you have become quite a wit since I was last here. Or were you always this witty and I just was too obtuse to see it? Except for your cartoons, which I have always liked. You have not pinged me on those for a while. Aren't you doing them now?

Unfortunately, I have not gotten married. I have just been busy with my kids. I was also away visiting my brother for a week. Caught the Notre Dame game last week, too. My nephew is a sophomore there.

BTW-- does anyone know how to get word to put a page number in the RIGHT corner-- instead of the left side?

Yes, do you still need to know?

Yes I do. I could NOT find any "number position" parameter, to change, or anything. I played with the margins, and that did NOT help.

...Sorry. Sometimes I stutter in my mind. So here goes.

If you have Word,
open the document.
(Menu bar)Insert, (arrows at the bootom) page number

(Dialog Box)Position: Bottom Alignment : Right.

Ta Da!

Therein lies the problem!! All that happens, when I hit "page number", is a "1" comes up, on the left!! There is NO arrow, to control position, and NO dialog box comes up, asking where I want it!!

So, what am I doing wrong??

ok, try this.
menu: view
header and footer.

scroll down to the footer (bottom of page)
click in the footer.
A menu shows up.
(Header and Footer)
first icon is page number
click on page number.
you should get a dialog box
choose bottom; right.

Did that work?

Go to View -> Header/Footer, scroll down and click in the Footer area. You can either "insert auto text" or click on the page# symbol to insert page numbers. And just right justify it before you click out of footers. Click on the body area of the page to get back to page view. You can also change the font and font size while you are in footers. Let me know if I didn't answer to the right question.

You still here?

I'm sorry I couldn't get on last night.

I've still been pinging you with the cartoons...have you been missing the pings?

If you want to, you can click on my name, and scroll down to the bottom of my home page. I've added a full archives of all the toons I've drawn, even going up to Friday's.
