Elton John to wed partner in December

LONDON (Reuters) - British pop star Elton John plans to marry his long term partner David Furnish on December 21, the first day that civil partnerships between gay couples will be possible in England.

In an interview in Attitude magazine, which hits the newstands on Friday, John said the ceremony would be a small, private affair involving only himself and Furnish and their parents acting as witnesses.

"Out of respect for their (our parents') support, we want to just keep it small -- not to make a ballyhoo of the ceremony," he told the gay lifestyle magazine.

"There will be a party somewhere, but the day will be very low key and we'll take our parents to lunch afterwards."

The Civil Partnership Act allows British same-sex couples to effectively marry when it comes into force on December 5.

Couples who want to wed under the act must post a notification at a registry office first, meaning that the first such ceremonies in England will take place on December 21.

Elton loves to eat fudgesicles. There is nothing like a good poopie covered man stick to inspire songwriting, er, writing music.....

The sad thing about it, too, is that the families of these folks don't recognize it for what it is . . a most exquisite form of rebellion . . a worse one than the hippie flower children were able to come up with in their heydey. - It's possible to love someone without pretending to be approving (and applauding) of something families clearly have never been approving of; it is lying to do so. Love covers a multitude of sins and brings the only real healing from aberrant behavior. Disowning a child is not helpful, and they have no place to turn when the inevitable happens and the "marriages" break up in the messy way most of them finally do. We all need love and prayers, no matter what our sin might be, and we all are sinners in need of redemption and reconciliation to God, and help to walk the straight and narrow.

He'll get drained of his wealth ...

What wealth? Elton John is always broke. He always has blown it (pardon the pun) as fast as he makes it.

Some of Elton's songs from back in the day are pretty good. He is by no means one of my favorite artists but still he isn't worthless in the music department. Every time I watch Almost Famous, "Tiny Dancer" goes on repeat on my iPod for about a week.

He had two good albums way way back in the 70's. Other than that, his music is trite. When he "perfomed" for Princess Di's funeral I wanted to puke. Tacky tacky.

Elton John is still touring because he has blown most of his "wealth" from articles I have read. He had to sell off a lot of items to make cash. A lot of acts his age are retired or semiretired and do only a few shows. He does lots of shows for the money. He spends big from what I have read.
