This month, SAP's Shai Agassi referred to open-source software as "intellectual property socialism." In January, Bill Gates suggested that free-software developers are communists. A few years earlier, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer called the open-source operating system Linux "a cancer."

Let's try this again. You said communists want patent laws overturned. I said I don't believe even Stallman wants patent laws overturned, only software patents stopped. You then said he's against patents (unqualified). All of this is on the links I gave you in case you'd like to compare.
That patents exist is law. That software patents exist is not law. The law does not even mention "software," and doesn't mention "computer" in the context of granting patents.
Do you finally get it?
Why do you keep covering for him, or lying about his positions which are clearly on the record for all to see and judge?
I think we've caught the lier. It's all there in the links from my last post and the links you provided to Stallman's writings on software patents.
Oh crap, that means I'm supporting China because I've bought Microsoft software. And here I thought I was only supporting China by using open source software.
At least my Linksys router is from pre-Cisco days. You know, Cisco, the creators of the Great Firewall of China.
I'm not even wasting my time reading that crap because I know what you said. Here it is, quote "I don't believe even Stallman wants patent laws overturned." Period. Which is obvious bunk, to anyone with a clue, as I showed on that thread.

But here you are again, doing anything possible other than admit that advanced software tech from the US is flowing freely and legally to Iran Cuba and North Korea every single day, and that the removal of patent laws make these transfers to others even more likely.
Absurd, you support China because you provide them free of charge the software they are standardizing their government on. Them and Cuba, Iran, North Korea, down the line.
I've never contributed a line of code to Linux, nor have I donated to the FSF or purchased a Linux distribution.
Withdraw your lie.
"All regretful, but nothing any worse than any other large US company, and certainly nothing near as incriminating as the actions those you support."
Loosely translated, "Yeah, it's bad, but not as bad as you". The difference is, I don't support them with my money. Put yours where your mouth is.
"Those you constantly defend completely GIVE software away to not only China, but every potentially hostile country in the world. China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, etc, all of which are standardizing on the free software provided on a silver platter by those you support. "
That's why they don't get a dime from me.
"And no amount of finger pointing at Microsoft is going to change that."
Not pointing a finger at Microsoft. I'm pointing a finger at YOU. Why do you condemn me when you support Chinese censorship with your "six-figure" salary?
Hey, where can I download your distro, man?
Which is the reason you're losing.
Here it is, quote "I don't believe even Stallman wants patent laws overturned." Period. Which is obvious bunk, to anyone with a clue, as I showed on that thread.
You liked to my post, not a successful debunking by you. Show me where Stallman wants the patent laws overturned, an end to all patents.
You also disagreed with that post, saying Sun was not giving away its patents to an extent where China could pull a Red Flag with Open Solaris. To use a position opposite yours in support of your position is disingenuous.
Again, when are you going to stop using the GPL software that you hate so much?
The hallmark of totalitarian ideologies is conformity and corporatism. In East Germany for example, you drove a Trabant, and that was pretty much all there is.
Go to Distrowatch and you'll see diversity in many combinations.
Communism? Hardly. This has lowered the entry barrier to e-commerce for many successful firms...and this website. :)
Regards, Ivan
antiLinux will soon be available at ihateeffinchina.com, but I've limited the download to only Chinese IP addresses because I just loooove them sooooo much.
GELinux will be available at imalyingparanoidschizophrenic.com, and it filters out GE's posts at the presentation layer.
Don't play dumb with me, you know very well Stallman wants software patent laws overturned, and you already admitted it was doubtful even in your opinion that Sun would allow the release of "Red Solaris".
Quit talking in circles and give us your reasons for supporting free software givaways to US adversaries like Cuba.
"Don't play dumb with me, you know very well Stallman wants software patent laws overturned..."
Isn't that what he's been saying? Do you even know what you're arguing?
"Quit talking in circles and give us your reasons for supporting free software givaways to US adversaries like Cuba."
He doesn't. They don't get his money. He already said it. Now, what are your reasons for supporting the DNC, Chinese censorship, and Planned Parenthood?
haha!
You know full well there is no such thing, only policy forced by the courts. At least this time you qualified your statement to software patents, where before you said he wants patent laws overturned (unqualified to software patents).
Can I take your change of terminology to imply tacit admission that your previous posts on this issue were incorrect? I won't hold my breath for a retraction, as that would be the honest thing for you to do.
and you already admitted it was doubtful even in your opinion that Sun would allow the release of "Red Solaris".
Dishonest misrepresentation of my post yet again. The discussion was over patents, I stated that Sun probably wouldn't allow a "Red Solaris" due to trademark issues, not patent issues.
Withdraw or have another blatant lie confirmed. Or you could just be one of those ignorant people who thinks all "intellectual property" law is the same. That's your out to avoid apologizing, in case you didn't notice.
Again, when are you going to be true to your stated principles and stop using GPL software, since you hate it so much?
I want the software controlled, since it absolutely has military uses.
You want every dictator in the world to have as many free copies as they can make, just like Stallman.
In that case, it applies to almost ALL software. The military uses most of the major commercial and open source software available today. They even use foreign-made software. They're a big buyer of Microso... -- hey, didn't Microsoft let the ChiComs see the source code of the operating system that our military uses on 99%+ of its machines?
Snort is just software for network protection. Everybody needs that. There's nothing "military" about it except that our military is one tiny user.
Almost all is right. But especially supercomputer software, which you open sourcers currently provide on a silver platter and with a big bright red bow on it.
Right off the bat, the military uses at least Windows, Photoshop, MS Office, Acrobat, Quark, netfilter/iptables (oops, that one's foreign software), Firefox, Outlook, Exchange, Linux (oops, that has a lot of foreign-donated code), Dreamweaver, PurEdge form flow software (oops, that's foreign-written, too). And don't forget that a lot of our software companies contract-off to India for programming. Your statement is rediculous.
But especially supercomputer software, which you open sourcers currently provide on a silver platter
Open source provides an OS (don't forget, Microsoft is trying to get into the market, too), but it takes a LOT more than a simple OS to make a supercomputer. Linux is popular because it can work in supercomputers, and you don't have to pay 5,000 licenses for your 5,000-node cluster. Beowulf, the free collection of software to link to gether an okay supercomputer, also has worldwide contributors.
What you don't realize is that free software goes along the lines of the worldwide scientific community, where you publish and others review, build on, and improve your work.
As far as non-cluster supercomputers, that's still mostly proprietary. The proprietary UNICOS/mp runs the latest Crays, where Linux would fail miserably.
BTW, when are you going to be true to your stated principles and stop using GPL software, since you hate it so much?
