SourceForge project of the week (This one is not for the faint of heart)

Ok so lets say you have some time to kill and want to try something new. Maybe youre strictly a Windows user and feel lfet out of the flame wars that erupt between KDE and Gnome people about which interface is better... Well here is your chance to start up flame wars about which windows interface is better...

Emerge Desktop is an alternate shell for Windows 2000 and XP. you don't need it :-) Unless you like to customize your desktop and have a lighter interface. This is not a new feature introduced by Emerge Desktop. There are plenty of alternate shells for Windows (since Windows 3.x) and for Linux. The main difference between Emerge Desktop and other alternate Windows 2000/XP shells is the modularity (see next answer).

If you've ever used the OSX desktop, it leaves anythign MS has designed in the dust.

Luckily, we all get to have our point of view.  I disagree with you, but hey, enjoy it if that's what you feel.

Trying to provide something of benefit to us all? LOL then you shouldn't be pushing this limited feature crapware on us just because it's "open source" which is obviously your agenda. Then we have to read through your terrible spelling which you either can't control or don't care about. All you seem to care about is having a forum to spread your propoganda, despite the fact this is a political site and not technical one to begin with. The fact of the matter is, this thread has no real value whatsover, and never should have even been created. If the humor I made of the moment was over your head, no one will be surprised. Have a good evening.

It is amazing how insulting these open source flamers can be, calling me all those ridiculous names like brass buzzard, tarnished turkey etc etc just because I don't let them constantly mislead others like they are always trying. This newbi3 guy even tells people all windows 2000 support has ended even though he knows it hasn't. If you have any idea how we can put an end to it all let me know, but these last few are all that's left, then we can maybe finally get back to discussing the political aspects of technology.

have you ever used the osx desktop?

It's a much more user-friendly experience and a more logical layout.

Now, going into the internals is a different story, but I'm talking about the desktop itself.

the political aspects of technology

I think the case of Galileo might provide an argument against over-politicizing technology.

When you can neither give nor receive common courtousy I am grieved. It seems those who told me I was throwing perls to swine were right.. In any event Im sorry that the presence of some OSS users on this forum so vexes you and I pray that youll finally be able to put such things into proper perspective..

Thanks, but if you don't want to discuss politics, then you probably came to the wrong place. Not my line, I've just heard it a lot on here before. At least keep the dicussions on a high or macro level view of things. Desktop customization has to be the absolute lowest food form out there, I hope you would agree.

I already said "have a good evening", and I hope you will. Maybe one day you'll actually even see a light. Till then, why don't you use the private e-mail system if you have no other free ways to communicate. Thanks.

I'm a software professional. I write software for a living. I also support FOSS. It adds tremendous value to computing in general. It's possible to set up (given enough administration costs) a completely open computing architecture to support pretty much any business need. The beauty of FOSS is that it's OPEN. When you find a bug, you can fix it. Certain other closed source companies have publicly stated that they do not fix bugs; they only add new features (and thus more bugs). Open source is more stable because the users want it that way.

When it comes to technology, I find how it works is usually more interesting than what it ends up getting used for. Hopefully you don't find anything disagreeable in that.

All you seem to care about is having a forum to spread your propoganda (sic)...

Ooops. There's that ol' spelling bug. You must have caught it from N3WBI3.

...despite the fact this is a political site and not technical one to begin with.

Really? Ever seen this?:

Perhaps he said that because it's true. Even Microsoft says so.

This is the reason you get lambasted. Your stubborn insistence on being wrong, even after you've been given the facts.

If you have any idea how we can put an end to it all let me know, but these last few are all that's left, then we can maybe finally get back to discussing the political aspects of technology.

You could stop being a Nothing-But-Microsoft troll, for one. If you bashed Microsoft's pro-Communist policies with half of the vehemence with which you bash Linux, you'd start down the road to relevance.

And admitting it when you are wrong would go a long way to reducing the irritation.

You could even start with your next post.

Another bogus lie from the open sourcers. All support for Windows 2000 has not ended, despite your desperate claims that it has. Microsoft still realeases security patches for it and will continue for another 5 years. This obviously really torques you guys because you know how many Linux distros have already been completely abandoned since 2000, much less by 2010.

Ahhh and to you this as being courteous... I suggest you print out your last 20 post and show them to an elder at your church, ask them if this is Christ Like behavior...

BTW I have had PM's from two people who are playing with this software, and one from somebody who wanted on the OSS ping list after reading it (before you jumped on and started name calling). The low volume of late was because I had two rather difficult certs to obtain and had finals to write/grade, not because of anything you have done so please dont break your arm patting yourself on the back.

BTW as you dont see it fit to keep insults, slander, and a hateful tone in the private e-mail system I dont think it appropriate that I keep anything I have to say to you private. Two points:

(1) Threads like this (I think this is my third) usually die at ten because its about someone downloading and trying something, as I said I post it so people who like to play with computers have a new toy. All your actions do it keep bumping it up to the top, thanks..

(2) Even after you jumped on and said Course if you're against ever paying for anything, and want everything for free, beggars can't be as choosy. I ignored the fact you were misrepresenting the position of OSS users on this forum and tried to engage you in a polite discussion by asking about the product you mentioned. You were either unable or unwilling to answer so you started throwing around more insults.

Please go ahead show the elders your words here and ask them if its what a Christian should be out doing in the world..

A disagreement about what is acceptable support and semantics about what is the full definition of that support is not a lie... Will you take me up on my challenge and show your post to an elder at your church?

BS, you claimed a hotfix isn't an update and still won't admit new patches will be provided in the future. All part of the linux lies you and your cohorts constantly push on here.
