This forum is to help us get through the offseason by posting news, silly season rumors and anything else devoted to Nascar.
New Facility Opens
Hybrid Technologies, Inc. has opened a new plant in Mooresville this week, and it is expected to create some 100 jobs in the next two years. The first product will be a high-powered lithium motor for appointment in a lightweight concept vehicle. The goal is to create a car that breaks the current world Land Speed Record for a production hybrid. Hybrid was incorporated in Nevada in 2000 and is a development stage technology company that is developing electric powered vehicles, products, commercial and residential properties.

This is not a High Volume Ping LIst and is intended primarily to alert folks of the posting of the weekly Nascar qualifying and race threads.
Occasional sports or military or prayers Pings using the list may also be sent as situation or subject dictates.
Profanities, flame wars and belligerence in observing common sense rules and family decency standards on the thread may result in serious sanctions and potential removal from FR so be nice. :-)
Kevin Harvick and teammate Jeff Burton are both displeased with NASCAR's new tire-leasing rules, which are designed to limit testing by teams.
"The tire situation is out of control," Harvick said. "A lot of the big teams have bought all the tires; we have an abundance of tires, but the newer teams don't have any tires. It's a problem.
"A lot of the new rules they make just cost us all more money."
Burton said: "It's not fair for some teams to be able to test (tires) 20 times this year at Kentucky where other teams can only go twice. It's actually become less fair. It's not equal for everybody.
"And those tire tests now have become exceptionally important."

it's not so much lack of common sense or family decency. |
I don't know about you guys, but I just see a pattern here......
Dale Jr. won't be at DEI for the long haul

Duane from Frankfort, Ky.: Why is Dale Earnhardt Jr. using Richard Childress Racing engines in the No. 88 Navy Busch car instead of Dale Earnhardt Inc. engines?
Larry McReynolds: I don't know the whole story, but I was told was that Earnhardt attempted to try to do a program with DEI for JR Motorsports. They kept hemming and hawing and wouldn't really give them an answer. Finally, the sands in the hourglass were running, and Earnhardt was trying to run the final race of 2005 at Homestead. He finally had to do something. In a very short time, like hours, he put a program together with Childress.
If I had started a late model team for my son Brandon while I was working for Childress or Robert Yates, I feel like I had the kind of relationship where I could have walked into their office and put together an engine program within a matter of minutes. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is not only the driver of the No. 8 car and pretty much the franchise for that organization. He's an Earnhardt, and he couldn't put together a program in a short amount of time for his Busch team. That doesn't say a whole lot about their relationship.
In my opinion, it's a perfect example that Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s time at DEI is short. There's such a separation between him and the management/ownership structure, and you can't have success when you've got that separation. As Darrell Waltrip has taught me, there's always more to the story. But the handwriting is on the wall that Earnhardt will not be there for his entire career.

[and if true, Sr is fuming in heaven about all of this and more - I hear thunder now]
I think that some day Mikey will have something to add to the DEI story.
Jr's struggle last year was too acute to rest on his teams shoulders alone...
Your moose offends me!!!
It might be a couple days late, but I finally put together my answer to Ray Dunlap. I should have my season preview shortly after the Super Bowl.
Thanks for putting that all together Steve, well said and done!!
I guess this year may turn out worse than last with all the musical seats by the drivers and the sponsors and the manufacturers in some cases not supporting the team.
Will your season preview include the drivers and new team info? When is the SB, the 5th? I should have the Shootout thread up on or about the 8th for the 11th race if you want to put it there. Whatever everyone else wants to do is fine.
Yeah right, maybe in Michigan.
Kenseth signs multi-year deal with Roush: Matt Kenseth has signed a multi-year contract with Roush Racing to continue to drive the #17 DEWALT Ford. Kenseth and Roush Racing's relationship dates back to 1999. "We are very pleased that Matt extended his contract with Roush Racing last fall," said Jack Roush, owner of Roush Racing. "Matt is one of the most talented drivers in the garage and he'll always hold a special place in our organization, having helped to bring us our first Cup championship in 2003. It's very assuring knowing that he will be staying on with us and I know that the first goal on his agenda is to take that championship trophy back."(Roush Racing PR), no terms mentioned(1-27-2006)
Well, if he's not at the track and not in that red fire suit, then maybe........................Nah :)
I forwarded your article about Jr/DEI to a friend that has known Jr since he was in diapers. She agrees with it.
Another Jr fan, you've been holding out on me ST. :-D
BTW is anyone watching Dancing With The Stars, some really skimpy costumes and good looking women. I persoanlly like the dancing. Jerry Rice is one of the contestants.
