Yep, tomorrow is going to be bad again. I saw there were fires down by San Antonio yesterday. They seem to be all over the place and not reported much on the cable news.

Evernham always used "Team Directors", so that's not a real issue. As for the KMOX signal, I'd suspect that as long as you're not west of the Rockies, you should be able to get it after sundown. In any case, like I said, they do stream, and dial-up should be able to handle it.

Talked to a friend that lives in Victoria. The fires were that far down, but so far, they haven't gotten down to us. ;)
Not that we have that much left to burn.LOL

Our bobsledders!!
BTW Steve, can't you send some of that frozen stuff down here? We have red flag warnings out again today. :(
Todd Bodine put bobsled on the pole: Todd Bodine heads into Saturday's Chevrolet Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge "on the pole" after qualifying runs for the event wrapped up on Friday afternoon at the Verizon Sports Complex. The event is a fundraiser to benefit the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project. The Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project, founded by Geoff Bodine (9th fastest), provides American-made bobsleds to the United States bobsled teams free of charge. The two Bodine brothers, along with eight other NASCAR drivers, including Tim Fedewa (2bd fastest), Kevin Lepage (3rd), Boris Said (4th), Dick Trickle (5th), Brad Noffsinger (6th), Stanton Barrett (7th), Steve Park (8th), and Joel Kauffman (10th), will compete in the challenge on Saturday. I don't have any frozen stuff to send; it's all bypassing to the east. The best I can do is send some non-precipitation-bearing clouds (we're under 2 hours from breaking the record for most-consecutive-cloudy days).

Jim Smith, one of the founders of the Craftsman Truck Series and defending owners' point champ,
has shut down Ultra Motorsports, citing lack of sponsorship. This comes at a bad time for defending CTS champ Ted Musgrave, as most teams have their drivers set. He does point out that he does have first dibs at the champ's provisional, which would be very helpful to a new team.
This gives a late Christmas present to Rob Ferguson and his #24 Mighty Motorsports team (the 32nd and last team to attempt all 25 races). With the #1, Ultra #2 (not to be confused with the Evernham #2 that Erin Crocker's running, unless he bought the owners' points from Smith) and the Orleans #62 not running the 2006 season, the 2 full-season field-fillers from 2005 (the #24 and the Sutton Motorsports #02) will have guaranteed starting spots in the first 4 Truck races.

If you're watching the Skins game, Smoke and Jr are on the sidelines. I guess it comes in handy to have a friend who works for the team owner who also owns a football team!

Racers and racefans eh?
Did you get your pump up yet? We actually have rain in the forecast for Monday night and Tuesday. Might just be coastal though, so don't get your hopes up.

Probably Tuesday on the pump. We're going to the big city tomorrow to take the neighbor's husband to the airport and take advantage of the time to do a little shopping.
I was walking with Jack this afternoon and two grey clouds went by, I was so hoping they had a little water in them, but no such luck.
The thing that scares me are the nutcases running around loose. Arson seems to be the reason for a lot of these fires!! A lady from the Forestry Service said they saw a truck with a LIT BBQ going down the road. The welder who started the fire near the nuke plant was arrested for negligence. She said they have seen a lot of dumb and reckless things lately.

Testing today....

8B, two time winner at Talladega.
This week's session features drivers in odd-numbered owner point positions as of last July 13, a group including Chase for the Nextel Cup contenders Jimmie Johnson, Ryan Newman, Matt Kenseth and Jeremy Mayfield. Four-time Cup champion Jeff Gordon, who missed the Chase but rallied to finish 11th, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are also scheduled to test this week.

Aw thanks BP!
As he came in, another team was backing its car out of the garage stall to begin making a run. Earnhardt Jr. had cut his engine and was coasting, so when he stopped for the car being pushed out he was stuck until a small group of people - including former Cup champion Benny Parsons - gave the No. 8 Chevrolet a push.
Thanks NY all pics of the 8 car welcome of course. I'm sure I didn't have to tell you that. ha ha

In my post-Christmas fog, I forgot to tell y'all about the coolest thing I got from one of my sisters. Some of you may have it, since it's been out for over a year. It's a book titled, 'The NASCAR Vault'. I had never seen this book, but I recommend it for all of you! It is the history of the sport, with clear pages full of reproductions of memorabilia. The repros are so good, that the wrinkles in the paper of the originals looks real. It also has alot of photos that I have not seen before, and I've seen a bunch of them! It has a copy of the first set of rules, Daytona and Darlington race programs, stickers, patches.......All kinds of cool stuff!
Here is a reveiew from last year at nascar.com .

That book sounds like a blast, better take care of that sister! Nascar books must have been the "in thing" this year, niece gave me the "Nascar Chronicles". Now if I can keep grandson from walking off with it. ;)
Thanks for the practice speeds.
