Currently 14-10 5 minutes left in 2nd Quarter. Fresno State marching down the field preparing to score again
Although losing to a "lesser" opponent is an indicator, it cannot tell you how well your team would do.
Nebraska Lost to Missouri, Big, Neberaska Beat K-State.
Does that mean Missouri beats K-State?
Nope.
There have been great plans for defense with USC. The issue is they are missing people that were important to injuries and other issues this year. That leaves a bit of a weakness in the USC on the talent side. It isn't a defense plan issue at all.
I'm getting tired and can't name any of the people they are missing right this second, near 12 and too late to think.
Fresno must be one of the better 2 loss teams out there.
Bump!
They played one hell of a game!
Well that UCLA loss was a situation where they got comfortable with their success and were taken by surprise.
USC has been fighting so hard for everything all season and haven't had much of a chance to take anything for granted this year.
That is an example of not being mentally tough yet by UCLA.
I think they are a team that is going to get stronger and stronger though.
I went to every one of those nine games in a row we lost to UCLA, yes I for one am enjoying this run.
But you know, the shame of living up here in the bay area is the lousy bay area fans are not appreciate how good of football USC is playing because they cannot stand success from anybody south of Monterey.
Believe it or not, the game was not carried in the bay area on a regular channel. It was booted off in favor of the Sharks hockey game. A**holes.
Yes, the announcer of the game said Fresno made three bowl games at the end of the last three years and won them all.
They are a darn good team.
Well, it's someone else's catch phrase here at FR, but the best response to that post is... JUST DAMN!
Statistically that is certainly the case. Coming into today's game USC's defense was ranked 38th and UCLA's 114th in 1-A ball.
Fresno State's defense was ranked 18th.
Stats don't tell the whole story, but they do give rough relative assessments. If USC plays a merely good game offensively against UCLA, USC might put 70 points on the board.
They are down to a walk on at linebacker and a freshman at middle linebacker, yet they still continue to play some pretty good ball. The 42 points they gave was not so much a testimony to USC 'lack of talent' on defense, it was attributable to a hell of a Bulldogs team, as I predicted in my post #19 in this thread.
Actually I would argue that they are doing so well because of the depth of talent that they have.
Michael, just be happy with how miserable all your Bay Area neighbors must be, week after week, having to hear about another USC victory (while Joe Ayoob qb's their top team up there!!!!)
I agree that USC is doing the best they can do with what they have on the defensive end.
The walk on linebacker, the freshman at middle linebacker, and a senior had to also play some position he never played to cover for two guys who both got hurt if memory serves...
Bottom line is the result is that they allow a lot of points by the other teams because they have IMO weaknesses in the defense from all the holes. They are indeed doing the best they can do and those that are picking up the slack are working hard at learning those roles.
They will be too happy up north still keeping the military off of campuses and guns away from people to defend themselves.
He's hurting up north right now.
Wasn't that unbelievable this week, listening to that weasel San Francisco mayor Gavin Fruity or whoever he is, trying to nonchalant that whole thing. They are a joke up there.
What goes around...
Yep, you gotta keep the faith........
This was one of the best weekends of College football in a long time. The OSU-Michigan game, OU TexasTech, Miami-GT and now this. Just wow.
OTOH, it could be as a result of stats being loaded gainst them because they play in a conference (PAC-10) against teams possessing some of the most potent offenses in all of college football.
Oh, I do think there are lots of good teams this year, even better than last year. Last year was darn tough and full of talent as well.
At this point, it doesn't matter if it's by 30 or by 3.
The BCS can "eff off" if they ever have the gall to put SC at anything below #1 ever again, given the current, incredible set of circumstances.
