Perhaps red roses are more appropriate after you are engaged, or married, as they denote love.

Would yellow and white daisys be ok?
Candy is acceptable, so are books, stationery, a picture frame, maybe a candy dish or pretty vase, a little stuffed animal, or tiny statue of a dog or cat.

If a guy gives a woman jewelry, then, on the next occasion she will expect something something more expensive, and her expectations keep escalating with each successive gift. (If you are a multi-zillionaire ignore the above advice.)

That one was popular in the Summer of '83, IIRC.(I remember a guy at Church camp had a tape with it on it.) About the same time these were also popular::

Those were the days, wern't they? B-) I remember in the Fall of 1983, I got my license and I remember the first song on the radio when I soloed in my car forthe first time was "Say, Say Say" by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson. BTw, I believe Michael Jackson's "Thriller" was still #1 at the time. Ironically, I got my first car before my driver's license so once I passed the test, I was ready to roll. It was a 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix my father gave me because "he had an extra car laying around." At that time, he bought a Cadillac when he was drunk, he is alcoholic but he is OK now. Alcohol took a lot of my father away from me including the eventual divorce of my parents but I have to admit, that was the only time I was thankful he was drunk, I mean, what 16 year old kid would turn a car down? I kind of miss that car, it even had an 8-Track in it.

Man, I just wish I pursued Jane Simon with more zest. B-P B-(

Don't remember "puttin" on the Ritz"? That was his.--

Remember "Band Aid" and "USA For Africa?" Dang, all this 80's talk, if I didn't have a cold, I'd go down to the local St. Vincent Du Pauls and see what they had in their used cassette section. Whne I'm at work, I'm getting burned out from politics and talk radio so if the subject doesn't interest me, I end up just shoving in "The Police," "Swing Out Sister" or "Mister Mister" into the Walkman.

am no expert, just a victim of them several times. I am not sure of the signs, 'cause they CAN come from someone who does have a vested interest in you. One thing to look out for, FOR SURE, is if a woman begins to pay undue attention to you, all of the sudden, AND she has a reputation of a "man eater", most likely, she is playing you, AND-- DO NOT try to get together with someone who has opposing views on morality, such as Abortion, Christianity, Gays, and such, thinking that "they will change" It will NOT work, most of the time!!!

Getting serious for a sec, I second that idea. It is OK to remain friends but to court someone with the idea of marriage with someone who has opposite views, that will not work. I once joked, "if thath appened to me, we'd probably be tossing Matchbox cars (I collect die-cast cars with emphasis on Matchbox and Corgi and some Hot-Wheels) at each other on election night." B-) Those things hurt.

Yeah. That whole summer of '83, you could hardly turn a radio to a popular station, and not hear "Beat it", "Human Nature", "Wanna be startin' Somethin", or " Billie Jean", several times an hour. Then fall came and THRILLER!!!

I think THriller came out around November or December of 1982 and it remained #1 until early to mid 1984. If I'm correct, you got to admit it was a great run for an album. I also liked the spoken word soundtrack Vincent Price added to it.

Speaking of 80's groups, anyone remember "Star's on 45?" They were from Holland and did a lot of tribute songs to various rocks groups through the ages. They did a Beatles' Medley that actually sounded like the Beatles themselves. One puzzling thing, they started the medley with "Sugar, Sugar" which was done by The Archies. I also liked another medley they did of various groups like Abba, various 60's and 70's soul groups and so on. Currently I am listening to "I Think I'm Turning Japanese" by The Vapors, anyone remember that one?

The ones you posted. ALL of the modern music seems to have this depressing,, dreary sound, with VERY little beat, and sounding like the singers are singing through the nose. The 80's music was NOT like that, it was hi-energy, with good beats and such. 70's music was even better.

Yeah, agreed. I love al ot of music from the 1950's to the 1980's and generally anything except Rap or Hip-Hop although I've heard a commercial for Hormel Foods of what could have been considered rap that came out in the early 1960's and so on which was kind of creative though. BTW, still working on that song you were re-wording that came from "Who Do You Think You Are" by Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods? They are a favorite group of mine along with "Peppermint Rainbow" although I'm reaching back to the 1960's on that one.

I'm going to come out and confess that I even liked "Care Bears."

I'm more of a Smurf man myself, I'll confess. BTW, remember "Shirt Tales?" They even had this cool car that turned into a plane.

How about "Mask" (NOT the movie), the cartoon series? Or Go bots?

I liked The Transformers myself, "Scooter" from the Go-Bots got on my nerves too much. I also used to watch Voltron, Tranzor Z, Robotech and so on. Anybody remember "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors?"

No, the gravitation weapon was something I heard of on a movie, or such My design is the superbomb. (40GT. in a size small enough to fit in a truck)

40GT? Sounds like a Ford car. B-D Just kidding, sounds like you got a real Continent Buster there. B-)

Yes, it would be a Continent buster. In the script, I explain that it would pretty much eliminate ALL of North and South America, and the dust and debris cloud, would cause a nuclear winter for whatever remained of the the world, snuffing out the remainder of life, in under a month.

Although it is a fictional device, IF one could get an older 1960's or such sized 20MT warhead, And as in my story, use "neutron multiplication", to force nearly 100% of the atoms on the fuel, in BOTH the primary and secondary stages, to enter into the chain reaction, and progressively multiply the generations of chain reaction until all of the atoms had entered.... BEFORE the rupture of the casing-- Well, a 40GT blast might just be possible.

Very cool :) The nukes in my story are pure fusion devices. There is a prototype "planet killer" weapon that uses antimatter which produces enough of a blast that it would make a planet uninhaitable (like an asteroid striking).

If you were wondering about the pilot in that battle scene, here she is (I have biographies for all characters). I have 13 more characters so far and will be adding more.

Warrant Officer Sandra Gold
Callsign: Scythian
Age: 26
Height: 1.68 m.
Weight: 56 kg.
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Ethnicity: American

Overview
Sandra grew up in the mean streets of Yorktown (two hundred kilometers southwest of where New York once stood). As a result she was a fighting girl long before she joined the Marines. This hardened her. She found her flare when she was on Mars where she stole a dropship to escape some smugglers who had kidnapped her; she realized that she could expertly pilot it between the buildings, bridges and all the other structures of Olympus City. When on trial, a Marine who saw the news footage of the chase forced the judge to let her go so her piloting skills could be put to use for her country. She had been attached to Miya's squad for a year. She also has level one qualification on a strikeship and serves as a reserve strkeship pilot as a result.

Appearance
Sandra has long straight blonde hair that she keeps in a pony tail. She has blue eyes and an average skin tone. Years of growing up in a bad neighorhood has haredned her phsyically as well as mentally and as a result she is physically strong although she still retains a feminine figure.

Personality
Life on the mean streets has also hardened emotionally. She is known for her brashness, dry and witty humor and sarcasm. She is very much like Miya and as a result, gets along with her by far the most. Like Miya, she also cares deeply about freedom and innocent life and believes strongly in protecting that, by any and all means necessary.

The pure fusion devices in my novel use a series of X-ray lasers to ignite the fusion fuel (combination of lithium 7 and deuterium which is what made the real life Castle Brovao test so much more poweful than the scientists prdicted). For a eight femtoseconds, the lasers are releasing energy on the terrawatt scale. Ths takes a LOT of energy and so the bomb's capacitors are charged before bomb release. The bomb's yield is variable. The fuel is also loaded prior to launch depending on the desired yield. Maximum yield is 35 megatons. As a result it is more of a tactical weapon than a strategic weapon (strategic bombs are anti-matter "planet killers" which render planets uninhabitable).
