I think we should be investigating this as an escape attempt," said Joseph Orlando, a spokesman for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

I think they should all be ticketed for not wearing seatbelts.

Knowing that part of the turnpike like I do, the Turkeys will probably die from being exposed to the fumes from the refineries.

" Last November, a tractor-trailer carrying 40,000 pounds of frozen chickens struck a truck carrying sheep in East Windsor, killing 22 of the animals."
A fire ensued and we had mixed grill for the township!! It was just a bit of a turn-off---the smell of burning wool!!
Greetings from Exit 8.

This is kind of a funny story, if you continue reading to the end. I can't help but notice it's Michigan making sport of New Jersey, though.

A month before that, a truck carrying live chickens was hit from behind by another tractor-trailer as it entered the turnpike in Barrington, dumping some onto the road; the others died in a fire. One of my husband's friends was on the turnpike when this happened. She was driving along like any other day when suddenly she came across a flock of live chickens on the road. Chickens were everywhere, she said, some were dead but others were still alive and jumped on her car. She was delayed for quite awhile due to the accident and was very late for work. When she got to work she apologized for being late and explained what had happened. No one believed her and everyone thought she was either making up a story because she overslept or that she was high. All day long her co-workers would cluck when they walked past her desk to mock her silly story. Vindication came later that evening when the chicken accident made the local news.
