I was just wondering if any of you watched the CMA Awards last night? IMHO it was AWESOME!
Brooks and Dunn gave a superb performance with there new single *I Believe* Faith Hill and Tim Mc Graw were magnificent in the Duo new hit *Like We Never Loved at All* Dolly Parton and Elton John with the Classic *Imagine*
Carrie Underwood did great singing her new CD Jesus take the Wheel.
Country Music did fantastic!
Bon Jovi-Elton John are great musicians, you are saying they aren't???
Loud cries from Texas:
No it wasn't about Country Fiddles in back of a holler it was about today's musicians and some great music, you want to SPIN it into sommething else that it isn't....
Which is why they held the CMA event in a city with a half-dozen Spanish language radio stations and NO country music stations.
They ain't country. Book 'em on some MTV awards show, not the CMA Awards!
Well let's all not give credit to some great Musicians, let's just call them names and be so *JUDGEMENTAL* that we cannot see the Forest for the trees.
Everyone sang there hearts out it was not a politcal show it was a show of music and inspiration. These folks are not demi-God's they are human beings like you and me that happen to have quite a bit of talent, why short them of that really!
No I don't, they want to make it into something else, and they have. All I am saying is don't call it C&W, because it isn't. It's like some Orwellian deal that if you call something it isn't long enough, it somehow becomes that.
They urinate on true C&W because they want to get away from Hoppy, Gene, JW, and Roy and their values and onto something more generic and touchy feely. That's not what it is, just like heavy metal isn't well suited for love ballets or rap for one worldism, C&W has its place. I just wish they would quit adulterating it.
Agreed...and their harmonization sucked!
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
The meaning IMHO is about people living as one, which OF COURSE will never happen, until *Jesus* appears on scene...
It has nothing to do with the quality of the music in a generic sense, either. I have no problem going to a football game and enjoying myself, but if I go to a football game and you tell me I'm watching hockey I'm going to wonder what you've been smoking!
JUDGEMENTAL!?! Dang straight I*'m being judgemental. How did moral relativism seep into this WEB site? If I didn't wish to be judgemental why don't I listen to some foul rap about some immoral activity. Heck, those guys sing their hearts out too, and so what he shoots a few folks and engages in intercourse with a few teenage girls, cause, gosh, I wouldn't want to be judgemental cause the guy is sincere..
Until Jesus appears? I'm sorry, but I refer you to the line, "Imagine there's no religion." No religion, no Jesus.
Yes, you are right if you suggest Jesus asked us to imagine, but I'd hardly call him a millionaire hypocrite married to an over hyped Japanese conceptual artist.
Except for that whole "Imagine there's no heaven" thing...which makes the song either an anthem for socialism or a very well-concealed mockery of it.
Pointing out wrong from right is one thing, but the CMA was about what?? SINGING and some great songs at that it wasn't about politics, immorality, HOWEVER it was inspirational that you could feel in your heart and mind in a positive light... Sorry you could not appreciate that...
You mean Bernie Taupin is a great songwriter. If it weren't for him, Reg would be doing Happy Hours at the Ramada Inn.
I believe that everyone at one time or another has questioned if there is a heaven? or hell? doubt and questioning is of human nature..
We all our human beings sinners of the worst kind, and the song reflects that....
No Religion-Has to do with that more WARS are fought in the name of RELIGION than anything else. Was JESUS about religion??? He was more about people loving thy neighbor at least that is what I get from Jesus...
And as far as John Lennon's destiny I have no idea, he may be sitting with Jesus in heaven or in hell with Satan I have no idea...Not part of my job to judge that.
