Two parents are in trouble with the law and may permanently lose custody of their two children, thanks to a phone call from the other side of the world to Webster.
Ken Sullivan said he has worked as a contractor mechanic in Iraq, and although it was difficult, he said he tried to talk to his daughters in Houston daily.
"These are my daughters," said Sullivan. The photos of 5-year-old Jocelyn and 3-year-old Kaitlyn are a little worn from the mileage.
Learning their stepfather had allegedly locked Kaitlyn in the garage on Friday made him mad.
"I tried to find out what was going on. In short, I finally ended up calling the cops from Iraq. They went in and found Kaitlyn, my 3-year-old, in the garage," Sullivan said.
Investigators said the 3-year-old was locked in a dark garage on a urine soaked blanket with gasoline nearby

Mom should do time right along with stepdad...
Deputies arrested the stepfather, Brian Wallace, and the girls' mother, Juliann Wallace, on charges of child endangerment.
Although the mother had nothing to say when she left court, her ex-husband did.
Sullivan flew home from Iraq over the weekend to ask the court to give him full custody of his young daughters.
The state was not quite ready to award custody to him.
"Apparently they've been fighting for three-and-a-half years and they're still fighting over custody of the kids, which doesn't help the situation at all," said Cecilia Longoria of Texas Children's Protective Services.
It has been another phase in a custody fight that continues to rage on.
The Sullivan girls are currently in foster care.
There are more questions than answers and plenty of uncertainty surrounding the case.
For example, what did the 3-year-old do to get locked in the garage?
Accusations have come from both sides and a judge will try and sort it all out at the next hearing on Tuesday.
I never cease to be amazed at the number of *significant others* of women who are such a danger to little children.
Maybe she really deserved it. [/sarcasm]
She is clearly nuts. He's been trying to be a good dad, and fights for custody, and they still won't give him thekids?
Why is it Gender Equality is never a factor in "Family Court"?
Thank goodness the father had the initiative to call the local cops to rescue his daughter.
I hope Emmanuelle Lewis gets the recognition he deserves.
I can't imagine that a 3 year old could *do* anything to justify being locked in a garage; or any child of any age. Locking oneself in accidentally is another matter but obviously, this is not the case. There's no way a three year old can fight this and the mother is just as bad; she sided with the piece of crap agianst the child. She doesn't deserve to keep them. I hope the biological father gets them.
IMHO, the good genie would contact the local ForRecon Ops Chief and have the stepfather and mom quick extracted and paradropped into Afghanistan or the HinduKush with anti-Muslim literature, a rusty tree saw, and let them explain their way out of their fix, while Dad takes the kids out for a banana split at Dairy Queen.
I just can't imagine how frustrated and angry this father is. If I found out someone was treating my kids like that, it would be all I could do to not kill them.
What f*%king difference does that make?!?!
The good news is Texas Family Courts are a great place for fathers when they are in the right.
Well this is channell 11 and the family is white, that could explain a few things. The local fox channel originaly reported this story but I could not find their website. Channell 11 is geared more to the black populace.
There may be some men who want to raise other mens' children, but deep down I doubt any man does. In most of the animal kingdom and in some human societies as well, the other man's children would be killed as competition.
Your predjudice is disgusting.
Motherbear is right, when my wife and I seperated and divorced I made sure I got custody of my two boys. The only concesion was I had to give up my daughter who has since left her mother and now lives close by.
Yeah... most are not civilized and Christian.
