WHO SHALL WIN?
Looked like a pre-vent D to me. The G-Men were giving the Vikes everything underneath, and Min. took advantage of the situation by completing a few 10 - 15 yard outs.
The overwhelming majority of the time the only thing pre-vent defenses prevent is the team employing it from winning...
But coaches never learn. ....especially conservative ones like Coughlin.
It's a bad sign. The Giants should have defeated the Vikings easily. If you can't win a home game against a 2-6 team that's down a starting QB, how can you claim a championship?
I couldn't believe that they scored so quickly...I can't believe the Giants didn't win easily...thats why they play the games, anything can happen.
Thats the upset in the early games...Packers are up 14-0 over Atlanta, maybe another surprise developing there.
All the other games seem to be as expected so far.
The Packers don't play like a 1-7 team. And though they are the NFL's evil incarnate for me, I have no problem saying that.
Our first four road games we lost by an average of 25 points and weren't competitive in any of them. And in a lot of ways, we did not compete today, either. Watching the game here we were screaming for the Vikings to put the ball downfield (we did that when we had Moss too but it didn't happen nearly enough then either) but there's not much doubt that statistically we didn't compete today either.
The interceptions killed you, obviously. But on the whole I'd much rather have your team than mine.
We weren't 2-6. We were 3-5, like that makes a lot of difference. :)
But our pass defense finally lived up to billing, without Fred Smoot, which made it a little more surprising.
The Patriots lost to the Bills 31-0 in 2003. They lost to the Redskins 20-17 about a month later. They went on to win the Super Bowl against the Panthers.
This isn't the end. Stop running around with your head cut off. :-P
The Vikings might win the division and who knows what can happen...its crazy, you think a team is finished and they can come back or you think a team is excellent and they fall apart...its a long season.
You know, as bad as the NFC North is this season you could be right. But this team is brutally exposed in certain areas of the game and they can't be considered a contender.
Let's put it this way: if it takes doing something that no team in NFL history has ever done (returning an interception, punt and kickoff for touchdowns in the same game) for us to get a road win, something ain't right. :)
I haven't seen a Viking game this year, I was speaking in general terms....its a long season and crazy stuff happens.
Is that how they scored today? thats amazing, anything can happen.
Yes, that's how we scored today. 125 yards of total "offense" for the game. It sure wasn't them that did it!
LOL
Well, I don't swim too well. :)
Special teams had a let down too.
I feel sorry for the fans who PAID to see that stinker.
They picked a good time to bend but not break.
Gah... a tough, tough loss for the G-Men. Gotta blame the kid for this one, too, much as I hate to. We've gotten used to him being great, but his accuracy has been pretty shaky lately, and it cost them the game today. They should have KILLED this lousy Viking team on this day.
Can't say goodbye to the growing pains yet, but Eli's still the man.
Michael Vick: "Brent" Favre.
I think they had two plus the two minute warning.
What I did like was seeing Watson getting involved in the passing game. He's still basically a rookie.
The secondary is just beyond awful right now. I'm not sure there's much that can be done because they just don't have the talent there.
