WWE reports Eddie Guerrero found dead
By COREY DAVID LACROIX -- SLAM! Wrestling
WWE.com is reporting today that Eddie Guerrero was found dead this morning in his hotel room in Minneapolis, MN.
No cause of death has been reported, Guerrero is survived by his wife Vickie and two daughters.
Guerrero had an absolutely stellar wrestling career, marked by his ability to deliver athletically competent, emotional, and ultimately awe inspiring performances in the ring. At the same time, it seemed he was constantly fending off his own personal demons in the form of alcohol and drug dependency. Those struggles were immortalized in the released DVD Cheating Death, Stealing Life: The Eddie Guerrero Story.
SLAM! Wrestling will have more as this story develops.
A shame. He has been one of my favorite wrestlers for the many years.
Condolences are sent to the entire Guerrero family
I disageree...he did some great work on the stick when given the chance to establish a character.
The business lost a GREAT performer...
Wow. I haven't watched in a few years, but Eddie was awesome! Condolencses to his family.
God Bless his family. Eddie was truly one of the greats, and will be missed.
Damn damn damn...
Oh my gosh.
Sad ping.

Great all-around performer.
Wow...5 years younger than me. What a shame. Condolences to his family.
My condolences to the Guerrero family. This is indeed a very sad story, and one that has been repeated over and over during the last 20 years. How many more wrestlers are going to die from a "heart attack" while in their 30s or 40s? If an equal number of NFL, NBA, or major league baseball players died under similar circumstances, you'd better believe there would be a congressional investigation. You can't tell me that Vince McMahon doesn't know what's going on here.
This is going back a LONG way, but when I was a kid my aunt and uncle took me to several wrestling matches and I loved it. I saw Gorgeous George in all his silly glory, the flying Argentina Rocca, Mr. Moto with his "sleeper" hold, Lou Thesz, and several others. It was entertaining and good clean fun!
WWE wrestlers and staff were very shaken up as they headed to the Target Center for the RAW/Smackdown taping tonight. As reported earlier, the plans for the taping have been changed to make it a Eddie Guerrero dedication show.

Man, now this is a shock. IIRC he was scheduled for a triple threat match with Batista and Benoit I believe. Batista apparently tore a muscle for real in a match with Kane and he was supposed to lose the title to either Eddie or Benoit. Well considering how Vince is running the WWE into the ground, he really can't afford to lose his wrestlers like this. Prayers offered for his family
I remember Gorgeous George! My grandfather used to watch him on TV.
You must mean a few months back when he was playing heel to Rey Mysterio, Jr.'s face character. On the "Smackdown" before the (inevitable) pay-per-view match Eddie came out sans lowrider, slowly entered the ring and stood silently while his facial expressions reacted to the crowd's heat on him. He slowly pulled a Mysterio mask out of his pocket, looked at it lovingly, then gleefully ground it into the mat. When the crowd's howls of indignation reached their peak he took on a mournful air and slowly left the ring without having uttered a sound for the entire five minutes.
Eddie's promo demonstrated his mastery of crowd psychology and his ability to silently move the story forward with physical acting alone - truly an acme all the half-talent newbies will be striving to emulate for years to come. His passing is a terrible loss to McMahons company at a time when that man's lack of taste and callous disregard for his employees are driving it down.
Perhaps its best that this thoroughbred "broke free" before the rest of the herd is rounded up for the glue factory.
Godspeed, Mr. Guerrero.
