Violence continues for an eighth straight day in the suburbs of Paris. Over 200 vehicles were set ablaze overnight.
Meanwhile, in this country, the Las Vegas mayor suggested that people who are caught defacing freeways with grafitti should have their thumbs cut off--on TV.
And the media, doing what they do best--harrass--have been so bent on going after Judge Alito's mother, who is 90 years old, that she has become, for all intents and purposes, a prisoner in her own home. Neighbors say she isn't even able to go outside and undertake one of her favorite activities, tending to her flowers, for fear of being hounded by media outlets.

Just when you think they can't sink any lower, they find the bottom and keep digging.
It doesn't give me a lot of confidence in her son when I read this. Why in the ^#@& don't they just ignore the media? She doesn't have to talk to them. I don't understand why she just doesn't go about her business.
At age 90, she could go out there to tend the fall flowers with a stone face and ignore their questions. How is the media going to know whether or not she's stone deaf? If this family cannot figure out how to stonewall the media, it doesn't bode well for the future. They can take all the pictures they want. Pictures with no quotes aren't going to get them anywhere.
The press would go elsewhere if she went about her business but didn't talk to them. The way it is, with her holed up in the house the press holds out hope she will sooner or later come out and speak to them.
There is no way I would allow these scumbags to interfer with my gardening.

Whoa! The studious ommission of the "M" word from Aye Pee and Rooters says it all, IMO. They try to turn this into a civil rights issue when it's a muslim vs. western culture issue.

My daughter had exercised-induced asthma. We never knew it until she was playing high school soccer. It required a few adjustments, but she kept up with the sport just fine. (Blowing her knee out is what ended her soccer career.)
