Did you ever sing to a spider?
Place an object in your mouth, like a pencil or drinking straw, and make a buzzing sound like a fly, with the object touching the web lightly.
The vibrations will travel into the web, and the spider will come looking for the bug that came to dinner.
I thought that might appeal to you.

I often wondered how you could trick a spider to do that, merely touching the web doesn't work.

We liked our spider.
Too bad we got our spider fat and sassy, and it split.
(It was the healthiest and most well fed spider ever..)

*guilty look*
I have tapped the threads of a web with a mechanical pencil lead.
Got a garden spider truly ticked at me.

Well, overfeed a spider and it will flee.
*sigh*
So it seems to be a self repairing issue.

I'm thinking that spider liked your alarm clock because it vibrated. Don't quote me on that because I studiously avoid arachnids.
But it would seem that if the spider found it's food by the vibration of it's web (due to a hapless victim) it would come to associate the vibrations of the clock with something good...
But what do I know?...I'm just a mom...
