The Advice Goddess

I'm 40, the cute girl from upstairs is 23. When she stopped by to commiserate about loud neighbors, we had a beer, went dancing, and then had sex. Afterward, she seemed weird and left abruptly. I wrote her a note, "Sorry if I made you uncomfortable, but I love you and look forward to seeing you again." She hasn't looked at me since. Where did I go wrong? -- Mr. Neighbor

Grateful as you may be to a girl for having sex with you, it's never a good idea to let on. You could've had a future with her -- the kind 40-year-old guys without handfuls of bling typically have with 23-year-old girls: jump-starting their cars, lugging their couches up four flights of stairs, and maybe catching a little action when there are no hot young guys to be found. You blew it, though, with "I'm a lonely sack of emptiness!" -- which is how "I love you" translates after one beer, one dance, and one roll in the sack. (You say "I love you"; she says "It seemed like a good idea at the time.")

True, and I explicitly said she told me of her own initiative of her past. Yes, she was under no obligation to do that. And yes, what matters is the person she is now, not then. I explicitly said that in my post.

And I don't think my commentary upsets a lot of women on FR - just an animated, passionate few. As to why they see my commentary through such a prism, I can't say. They are the best judges of that.

I don't think I have ever called anyone on this site an alpha princess, no idea where that came from, sorry. Your use of quotes around that figure of speech suggests you are quoting me, and I don't think that's accurate, but I could be wrong.

And I also have no idea how I gave the impression that I want a woman to be at my beck and call. I truly don't see how it comes across in my point of view. In fact, I have been frank in other posts that my longterm galpal doesn't even live in the same city as I do and we share 4-day weekends every 3-4 weeks alternately in LA and LV. I don't know how that could be interpreted as a strong desire on my part to have a woman at my 'beck and call,' sorry.

I have bluntly stated that many men don't like dealing with a career woman with a heavy personal schedule. I think this is true. I have also bluntly said that when men are given the choice with a successful woman who has excessive work demands and a successful woman who has a more agreeable schedule, much more often than not they will reject the woman with too many time demands in favor of the one.

If that somehow gets filtered as I want a woman at my beck and call, all I can say it that such an interpretation speaks volumes for whoever interpreted it that way. And whatever it is saying, it's not flattering.

The other day we were talking about the Safeguard system, using the Sprints and Spartans. You are right about that popular science issue-- I have it too- It generally poked fun at the system, explaining why id would not work, how much of a waste it was, andf then, a terrorist scenario of a robot boat carrying a 100M. bomb, to the US, to get around missile defense. Obviously, it was written by a Liberal, hippie type, who thought that all this country needed to do, to be at peace with it's enemies, was to send flowers, friendship cards, and have yoga sessions together.

BTW-- the US DID have a missile, that had a MARV warhead(meaning one that is terminally guided, AFTER separation and reentry, to the target). It was the Pershing II, and the CEP (or accuracy ratio) was less than 100 FEET!! A 50kt. warhead, a 100 ft. accuracy ratio, and 1,000 mile range, made it pretty formidable!! It was scrapped, as a result of the 1987 INF treaty.

I agree with much of what you say, BTW. A woman who carries a demanding schedule, with little time for their husband or children, is doing a big disservice to them. And I also agree, that if men are afraid of women asking about their occupation, then they may have some reason to feel that way. Just recently, my sister was AMAZED to learn, that women often demand child-support for their children until they are done with COLLEGE. I have known that for some time.

I know you would never hit me. But as you see, others here have, saying that my views are distorted and out of touch. I was not referring to you, about hitting me. I know you would never do that.

It just seemed that everyone was missing a point, of the whole immorality of the situation. And when I pointed that out, I was called a do-gooder, and holier than thou. For pointing out that behavior such as that was wrong. It just gets to me, that what used to be considered wrong in this country is now considered right, and vice-versa.

Yea, I agree with you also. Child support through age 22 is pretty extreme, I think, also.

Take it easy!

You seem to know law a bit. Just HOW can that be considered FAIR, in the first place, to a court?

And BTW-- what kind of seminar do you give, for that 5k, is it about business, or such?

Yes your free thinking has come through load and clear here with your lockstep rantings. LOL

What is it with you ladies that everything is a popularity contest? LOL

I've received many emails supporting my views and opinions. It may be hard for some you "free thinking ladies", but not everyone spills their guts on public forums. And since some of you have proven my point by displaying your wrath, you can understand why these others want to keep their opinions private. There are many people who like me, don't feel the need to throw their personal lives and beliefs out there for all to see.

But, thank you for making my point.

These guys are disliked because, in my opinion and many others, they have you men haters pegged. I happen to find men fascinating creatures. Warts and all.

It seems some of you "ladies" have of a hard time deciphering humor.

But, you have proven my point...you fell right in line and spouted your nastiness for all to see. Thanks.

I gave up being part of a clique back in high school.

P.S. Your username is a real misnomer. 'Taint nothing sweet about you.
But as to your opinion of me...ha! Tell it [and I'm sure you do] to someone that cares.

I read that too where the author said the system will not work. About the terrorist scenario and the "robot boat," that is a non-sequitor. just because it is possible to get hit one way, doesn't mean you don't protect yourself in other ways too. I remember that same tripe when Ronald Reagan proposed SDI. It's the same logic of not preventing cancer or trying to because they say, "you'll die from heart disease."

IIRC, most warheads use inertial guidance. From what I know how the Pershing II worked, the warhead had a computer programmed with the target and the computer analyzed the land around the target to compare to what it had in memory and it would keep doing it until it hit the target. BTW, I've seen films of the Sprint taking off, those things are fast from the get-go, if there was a human in there, the G-Forces would be too much. I'd like to see some sort of SDI based on large guns too like the old HARP cannon Gerald Bull was working on along with his "Baby Baghdad" cannon although the later was designed to fire a shell that was supposed to re-enter and hit a target. I was thinking if you get a shell high enough and explode it, you might be able to take out or damage the warheads enough be putting up enough flak like ball bearings, lugnuts, nails and whatever else you and think of.

BTW, I'll have to take a look at my '94 Ford "Exploder." For some reason, I think the "Prince of Darkness" (he usually plagues British made cars, Ford owns Land Rover, IIRC, Hmmmm) designed the electrical system, my brake lights and hazzard keep blowing the fuse and my rear lights don't light up when I turn on my headlights along with having a dark dashboard. Sigh...

I do plan on getting my 1977 Mercury Cougar "land yacht" back on the road someday, wish it was now, I'd use it as my nighttime car. B-) I dunno, if God Himself would come down and say, "Chuck, if you give me your Ford Explorer, I'll give you a 1965 Mercury Park Lane in return," I'd jump at the offer. B-D I'd take a 1965 Ford Galaxie or a 1968 Buick Wildcat as well. I just love those old cars.

Well, I guess this weekend, I'll have to go to the library and score a Chilton's or Haynes repair manuals and manage to grab my neighbor who has worked on cars. He was the head mechanic at the local Penna Air Nat'l Guard base when we had the A-7's fighters stationed here although he started so far back, he started working on the P-51 Mustangs we had here at that time.

Sorry about the rambling, but I'm in that kind of mood. ;-)

Kimmy I am not sure where you have developed your opinion of some of "us" but let me clear it up and then you can continue to dislike "us"

Yes your free thinking has come through load and clear here with your lockstep rantings. LOL
What is it with you ladies that everything is a popularity contest? LOL
When have you ever heard us say
we were trying to be popular? People like to be around us and we are blessed by the friendships developed on FR

I've received many emails supporting my views and
opinions. It may be hard for some you "free thinking
ladies", but not everyone spills their guts
on public forums. And since some of you have proven my point by displaying your wrath, you can understand why
these others want to keep their opinions private.

Umm we may talk about our personal
lives with each other but we know each other. Hitman was talking about his...We have never been
spiteful to others and know others may have different
views. I think you are a little double standard
Your friend Hitman can express his OPENLY but when
we reply we are vicious and a "clique" I think
you may be the one that has high school ideas

But, thank you for making my point.
These guys are disliked because, in my opinion and many
others, they have you men haters pegged. I happen to
find men fascinating creatures. Warts and all.
How can you make these statements
without knowing us? None of us ever remember speaking
with you before this....Are you telling me since we
didn't agree with SOME of the stuff Hitman said that we are
men haters? Have you ever disagreed with a man on FR?
Does that qualify YOU as a man hater?

It seems some of you "ladies" have of a hard time
deciphering humor.
I personally think we are some of the funniest posters on this forum and lots and lots of people agree.

But, you have proven my point...you fell right in line and spouted your nastiness for all to see. Thanks. I gave up being part of a clique back in high school. P.S. Your username is a real misnomer. Well with the millions of people here on FR there is a really good chance you can ignore us which is sad because I think you could laugh right in there with us. Just remember if Hitman or anyone else post something on this forum then we have a right to respond. He obviously wanted attention with it and got what he wanted.
