President Bush to Honor Rosa Parks Monday While She Lies in State by Nominating JRB to SCOTUS

At least that's the word I got from the friend of someone who knows someone in the WH who knows.

Okay, I realize this is not a great source -- so please go easy -- but it does sound plausible and a great way for the White House to honor Rosa Parks, an authentic african-american heroine, by nominating Janice Rogers Brown as the first african-american woman to the Supreme Court.

Exploitation of a woman's death, a transparent political ploy -- and it would be called that, loudly.

Best thing for President Bush to do would be to nominate her, because she's the best candidate, but not even bring up her sex or race, since that should be irrelevant.

Leave it to others in the next couple of days to point out how far we've come since Rosa Parks fought for the changes necessary to get to the point that a black woman can be on the Supreme Court.

No one who has been filibustered will be nominated. Period.

That is a terrible shame in my opinion. Battles like this are what define the conservative movement. If JRB will accept it, it should go to her. It will be part of Bush's legacy.

Well she could be chartreuse, with qualifications she has and she would be a shoo-in.

Can you imagine Leaky Leahy trying to beat on this woman?

This sistah chew him up, and give him his b--ls for bookends!

The Dims would start looking for a way to scandalize her, just like with Thomas only , guess what, MOT enough time to make something up! Bush will move ultra fast on this nominee, if he does indeed nominate her.Brilliant, but the question is: WIll there be a filibuster? I hope so.The Dims will fall into Bush's trap if they do filibuster JRB's supposed confirmation vote!! She's also tough enough to take the situation in her stride.

Any complaint I would have would be only because I don't think she can be confirmed.

I think the founders of this country made the right decision in declaring their independence from England back in the 1700s, even though it was a very risky move. Sometimes you just have to make the right choice, even if there's gonna be a fight.

The left would destroy itself trying to destroy JRB or her nomination.

I agree, and the MSM will have a very hard time explaining to African American Joe six-pack why those Eastern white men are mean to that woman on TV. JRB's nomination would be the equivalent to Reagan's "Mr Gorbachov, tear down this wall". Unfortunately, "W" does not have Reagan's sense of history and timing. (sigh)

I would call it a wonderful celebration of Rosa Parks' life. I don't care what the leftist say. Janice Rogers Brown has been on President Bush's short list since the beginning. LET THE FOOLS RANT AND RAVE.

Only Dems would be so tacky as to hold a political rally at a funeral.

2002 Wellstone Memorial ring any bells?

That's what I was talking about. Totally tacky thing to do, but they did it... guess they didn't think the press would report on it.

Unfortunately, "W" does not have Reagan's sense of history and timing

You mean like at Brandenburg where he refered to the graves of Nazi SS Concentration Camps guards as continining "those who were also victiums of the war"

Please can we grow up? This defication of Reagan is nonsense. He was a great man. But he was a man, not a god. He had his days of missed pitches too.

Besides, this will look like cheap theatrics.

I ask in all sincerity. How do you describe GWB's entrance onto the USS Abraham Lincoln two years ago?

This really is the question of the moment. Will GWB break from the east coast establishment he is surrounded by and nominate a maverick such as JRB, or will he stick with an establishment type like he did with Roberts? I think he heard his base, but we will soon see.

She'd be filibustered if she got picked.

If she got filibustered, a contingent of FReepers will blame Bush for picking her.

I don't deify Reagan any more than you do but I do hold him as one of the century's finest. Regarding his cemetary boo-boo, I think you have your facts a little bit off...

Reagan went to Bitburg military cemetary and did pointedly honor the German dead - those he thought were in the Wermacht who were ordinary Germans. The presstitutes found a few Waffen SS combat graves (I don't think it was concentration camp guards, although they, too, were Waffen SS) in a corner of the cemetary.

True to form, the lying sluts tried to paint the gesture as Reagan saluting the SS that he wasn't really even aware of. At the worst, his staff didn't do their homework in checking out the cemetary before he arrived but it was never his intent to do anything close to what they charged.

One gaff he did bring on his own head (BTW, it endeared me to him more than anything else) was at a WH press conference when he tested the open mike by saying something like '...testing...testing...1,2,3...the bombing begins in five minutes...' The fifthcolumnist whores went ballistic and cried for a couple weeks about his insensitivity and provative comments claiming he wasn't fit to serve in the dignified office. Of course, Reagan refused to take off his coat daily in the Oval Office out of respect for the people's highest national office. Krinton, OTOH, sprayed the Oval Office with his diseased ejaculate. According to the lickspittle press, there was no comparison - X42 was clearly the real leader.

Please can we grow up?

I beg your pardon. As one who has spent a tour during the Cold War watching the Warsaw Pact nations perform maneuvers, I consider the fall of the Berlin Wall and the demise of the Soviet Union nothing more than a miracle. IMHO, Bush couldn't have made a pimple on Reagan's butt. Reagan may have had his missed pitches, but when at bat, he hit the ball out of the park. Now go sell crazy somewhere else, we're all full up here!
