TGIF: Top 7 Reasons to Crack a Cold One Tonight (vanity)
PA Times | 10/28/05 | Dr. Pissant

Posted on 10/28/2005 3:11:52 PM PDT by pissant

It's been a helluva week in Freeperville. I'm sure there is much relief, as well as some ongoing anxiety. While many freepers rejoiced at the SCOTUS news, others were on edge over the CIA leak drama, and still others didn't give a rat's rear end about much. Regardless of the category you belong to, it IS the friday before Halloween and frosty adult Beverages are necessitated by the occasion.

Top 7 Reasons to Pop a Cold One Tonight

7. Wounded Warriors Beer & Brat fund

The Freeperettes came thru to send funds to treat some wounded heroes to a night of R & R in Ramstein, Germany. Marmar will be the gracious hostest and official photographer.

6. Poland Elected a Right Wing Gov't

Following on the heels of the German elections, some hope for Europe is in the cards.

5. Mr. Sulu and Cheryl Swoopes came out of the Closet

I always thought that the way Sulu said "yes, Captain" to James T. Kirk seemed suspicious!

4. Karl Rove is Still Employed

Much to the utter despair of Chrissy Matthews and Joe "Frogmarch" Wilson, Rove may still be around to inflict further damage to the socialists (read Democrats) for awhile yet.

3. Harriet Miers Showed Alot of Class

I wanted to see her in the confirmation hearings, to demonstrate what she was made of. But for the good of the conservative movement, she stepped aside, knowing Bush would never have asked her to do that. Here's to you, Harriet.

2. Mr. Jeeves survived his Showdown with the Freeperettes

Our resident dating guru suffered a series of bodyblows in the "Stupid Lies Women tell Themselves" thread this week. But I have it on good authority that he is resting comfortably in a Bay area institution.

1. US Beer Consumption has Dropped

While the overall economy grew at an impressive 3.8% this past quarter, the beer industry has been flat. We all must do our part to help revive this vital industry.

As a matter of fact, I have tried it, and do like it very much... not from my neck of the woods though..its actually from Delaware, if Im not mistaken.

I agree, not the "best IPA in America".

Whats your vote on the best IPA?

MM

Reason for no beer but a tequila shooter or two:

It's COLD outside, at long last. :)

I do ski. And I will do just that. Do they make a bitter or an IPA too?

From the website:

Our Divine Reserve is a series of single batch beers, each brewed with a completely different recipe. The batches are identified by the number on the neck label. There is no particular theme to the beers, although it can be assumed that most all of them will be big. Many will benefit from being aged.

Reserve No. 1: Barleywine Cases Made: 327 Date Brewed: August 18, 2005 Date Bottled: October 17, 2005 Original Gravity: 1.099 Final Gravity: 1.027 Alcohol: 9.3% ABV

1) The cafe is good.

2) They sell clothes I actually like.

3) It's two blocks from my house.

4) The most beautiful women in town shop here.

What's not to like? ;)

LOL. I consider your neck of the woods to be anywhere east of Ohio. Silly westerner that I am.

I did enjoy it, despite the $10/4pack cost. Ouch.

The best IPA? I have several in the top tier:

Laconner - Laconner WA
Maritime Imperial - Seattle
Diamond Knot Industrial- Mulkilteo, WA
Bear Creek - Yakima WA
Boundary Bay - Bellingham, WA
Lagunitas - Petaluma, CA
Anchor Liberty Ale - San Francisco (not technically an IPA, but it was the original)

They switch up the line up from time to time since they do seasonal brews. I'd call ahead first to see whats on tap but it's all good.

I'm with you on this. I haven't had a brewski in a couple of months. It's time to pick up a 12-pack of Coors Light. Such a fine, crisp, refreshing flavor to that brew.
