Very nice.
The same people who are going apoplectic because Bush isn't a weathervane on the Miers nomination applauded his hanging tough despite polls and negative press on other issues. They love when he has a spine except when they're the ones who want him to back down.
Bush figured out a long time ago that the power of the Presidency is established by the Constitution. Not public opinion, polls, or the press. He picked his nominee, and he's going to fight the fight. And he's not going to do it in the papers or airwaves -- he's going to do it in the Senate, where it matters.

..he's going to fight the fight. And he's not going to do it in the papers or airwaves -- he's going to do it in the Senate, where it matters.. Right. The Senate Judiciary Committee will convene in a few days, and Harriet Miers will appear before it. If she presents herself reasonably, she will be voted out of committee.
If the 36 solid republican senators are joined by 14 of any combination of the 19 RINOs or 9 DINOS she will be seated on the Supreme Court.
Nothing matters outside that process.

I've moved beyond caring on the Miers thing, but you nailed it on the head here.
This will be Miers nomination to lose in the Senate. The President will not back off his choices.

What I am surprised at is the fact that usual suspects aren't here trashing Bush and Miers by now, after all, the same amount of evidence has been presented :-)As the snow has piled deeper and deeper, I didn't think I could find anything to laugh about. You did it! LOL! Thank you very much. And here's a snowball in your honor....splat! ;)

Yes. What could be more vain than an empty space with a loud headline? It is the ultimate vanity of vanities, vanitas vanitatum.

They just look sorta natural alongside one another, don't they?
