October 25, 2005, Tuesday

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

MALLEABLE

Adjective:
Pronunciation: mal/ee/a/bal
Etymology: Middle Earth

1) Capable of being extended or shaped by beating with a hammer or by the pressure of rollers
2) Adaptable, pliable.

SYN: plastic, pliant, ductile.

It goes away. Even on vacation on the days we were traveling from one place to the next, my back and hands were in pain.

Hope you feel better. Take a nice hot bath!

A++++ for you, apackof2! BTW, I met and married my husband by meeting him in FR. It's been almost five years now, and no regrets!

We got hit with a one-two punch. there was some kind of weather system sitting off the coast yesterday - and THEN the 'cane came up the coast and mixed with the stationary system and dumped on us :)

Cyber already set them out, and he's calling me at 11:00 to remind me to take them. My appointment is at noon.

Good morning, Slip! Have you tried Tiger Balm patches for your back? Wonderful things, those; great for when you feel like you've been tested for malleability.

There have been about ten couples get married by meeting on FR. We all have the basic conservative issues. Makes for a good marriage.

It's been wacky here, too, but in a good way. Summer was long, but not too hot. Right now it's planting time. Storm was supposed to come in today, but it doesn't look like it will.

excerpt ...
“So…since he’s such a great Christian guy, I’m sure he didn’t try to get you to sleep with him. I mean, he’s protecting your purity and all, right?” I had a bad feeling about this guy already. My cynicism was beginning to show.

“Well…he’s not legalistic about it. I mean, we are adults and he said as long as we’re committed to each other it’s the same as being married.” Her own convictions had seemingly evaporated overnight.

The second comments above are a perfect example of a woman having a malleable mind so as to enforce her illusions of finding Prince Charming on the inter-net.

A few years ago it became obvious to me that men pursuing women and politicians use exactly the same techniques ... tell them what they want to hear; and it has nothing to do with the truth. We are the ones "stuck on stupid" for believing their words in the absence of evidence. Unbelievable but true. Let our prejudices be weakened and truth be strengthened in our malleable thought processes.

Poor hubby. He was outside with her waiting for the bus, and after it was about 15 minutes late he came back inside and checked the TV station website - big headlines on the frontpage "Accomack County Schools CLOSED".......he felt really bad coming into inform me of this at about 7:40.

Good morning to you, Felicity.

I've used many patches, but they don't stick to my back. So I use StoPain. It's 8.0 percent mentholatum. It's a spray or a roll on. If that doesn't work, I use Motrin. If I go into spasm, I have to take an Rx that knocks me out for 12 hours. And I hate those pills.
