Uggh...okay, I'm coming clean. I HATE parties. Or the party atmosphere, or whatever. I can't stand being in groups of people, around others. I feel uncomfortable, can't think of anything to say...sit there in the corner shaking like a chihuahua, wishing I was home. I prefer to be away from crowds, in peace and solitude.

Well, P, you've got me there. I don't like big groups either. However, if you are invited, then you know someone there! Talk to that person and get introduced to others. You need to develop the ability to converse in public as well as you do here. After all, we are strangers, aren't we?

I feel similar. For me it is shyness. In the extreme.

I was like that 20 years ago, I am still like that to a degree, but now I'm 39, I would probably go to a party. It helps to know about some sports (how'd about dem Steelers?) and so on just so you can fit in. At work, I have a pretty good group, we do talk from time to time, I know one guy who is a huge "Wonder Woman" fan and we talked about that for a while.
