                  | My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky
 I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
 through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
 my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

    Bus Stop

 Lights are burning
 In quiet rooms
 Where lives go on
 Resembling ours.

 The quiet lives
 That follow us
 These lives we lead
 But do not own

 Stand in the rain
 So quietly
 When we are gone,
 So quietly . . .
 And the last bus
 Comes letting dark
 Umbrellas out
 Black flowers, black flowers.

 And lives go on.
 And lives go on
 Like sudden lights
 At street corners

 Or like the lights
 In quiet rooms
 Left on for hours,
 Burning, burning.

Good morning feather. This fine cool rainy morning we are watching a Northern Flicker Woodpecker at the suet feeder.
This is not from our yard but from the internet.

    Morning, snippy!!

Oh oh beautiful! We have Flickers here and I have seen them, they don't look this.

But you said, Northern Flicker Woodpecker! Maybe the same bird. I think ours have yellow on them someplace.

You are right feather. There are yellow-shafted and red-shafted Flickers. We have them both but I've never seen a yellow one. Of course it's easier to see the colors when their wings are spread. At the feeder you can usually only see the identifying color in their tail. Here's a good shot of a yellow shafted Northern Flicker.

William Shakespeare
SONNET I From fairest creatures we desire increase,
That thereby beauty's rose might never die,
But as the riper should by time decease,
His tender heir might bear his memory:
But thou contracted to thine own bright eyes,
Making a famine where abundance lies,
Thy self thy foe, to thy sweet self too cruel:
Thou that art now the world's fresh ornament,
And only herald to the gaudy spring,
Within thine own bud buriest thy content,
And, tender churl, mak'st waste in niggarding:
Pity the world, or else this glutton be,
To eat the world's due, by the grave and thee.
by William Shakespeare (1564-1616)

I just love my Folgers. I don't care much about the fancy blends.

I was thinking about a haiku, but lost my train of thought.

It's cold and dark and rainy here. Furnace just kicked on so hope the warming will help my muse.
